I have read the book and seen the movie. Both are great! Matilda is a young girl who is mistreated by her mom, dad, and brother. She is labeled “stupid”, “dumb”, and “a disgrace to her family.” The truth is, Matilda started reading books at a very young age. She was reading Charles Dickens before she was even 5 years old. She knew all the times tables and could do incredibly hard math, yet she had never been to school. When she finally gets to go to school for the first time at 7 years old, she is confronted by yet another person who thinks Matilda is not smart and an embarrassment. Read the book or watch the movie to see how Matilda ends up. This smart book lover is in for an adventure of a lifetime.
Today I nominate:
