I am going to start this out with a quote from the book I am reading right now called Walk Two Moons by Sharon Chreech.

This quote is pretty much the motto of the Newberry Award winning book. I’m going to review the book soon so I won’t give too much away. Basically the main character is named Sal or Salamanca Tree Hiddle. She switches back and forth between being on a road trip from Ohio to Idaho and being in the story she is telling that involves her friend Phobe, her father, and many other characters. It is an amazing book that I absolutely recommend to anyone who loves adventure books.

The first book is called Zero Tolerance by Claudia Mills.

7th grader Sierra Shepard is a perfect honor student. Until she accidentally brings her mother’s lunch to school. Not so bad in regular circumstances but her mom’s lunch contains a knife to cut her Apple with. Sierra turns the knife into the lunch lady. Instead of acting normal about it, the lunch lady sends her to the office. Her beloved principal places her in in-school detention and sets a hearing for her expulsion. He cites the school’s zero tolerance rule, no drugs, no weapons, no exception. Even for the smallest misunderstanding. Sierra ends up with the so called troublemakers, including her classmate Luke. She discovers that their stories are more complicated then she thought. Suddenly none of the lines between wrong and right seem as clear to her as they once were.

2. When she was 6 years old, her mother gave her a notebook in which she wrote poetry in. That was the beginning of being a writer.

The second book which I am truthfully still reading is called Vet Volunteers Trickster by Laurie Halse Anderson. I did a previous review on the very first book in the series and this is the 3rd book of a so far 15-16 book series.

This book is told from the point of a boy named David Hutchinson. He is a funny goofy guy who has a rather bad habit of taking a short cut when doing chores. He volunteers at the veterinarian office across the street from him that is run by Dr. Mackenzie who goes by Dr. Mac. David isn’t the only volunteer. Maggie Dr. Mac’s granddaughter, Zoe the posh cousin who is staying with the Mackenzies for a while, Briana, and Sunita. When Dr. Mac has the volunteers go help out at a horse stable run by Mr. Quinn, David is determined to bond with a injured horse named Trickster. Trickster is a high spirited chestnut gelding that is healing from a accident that happened when he was in a horse trailer. David hopes to one day ride him. But his reputation of making mistakes and cutting corners gets in the way of his dream. Things go from bad to worse when a mysterious illness sweeps through the stables.

Book rating: 4.5 stars **** 1/2*

Recommended Age Range: Ages 8 and up.
