Book Traveling Thursdays (#2)

Hey everyone! Happy New Year! Today is my second and last Book Traveling Thursday of the year. Book Traveling is a weekly meme created by Danielle’s Book Blog and Catia @The Girl Who Read Too Much. You should definitely check out their blogs! Below is all about the weekly meme. You can find information and themes at the Goodreads Group.

1) Pick a book! At the beginning of every month a list of themes will be posted. All you have to do is choose a book that fits the theme.
2) In your blog post, the first thing you will want to include is an explanation of why your chosen book fits the theme.
2) Look at covers from multiple editions and multiple countries for the book you chose.
3) Finally, include pictures of the original cover, the cover from your country (if their are multiple covers from your country include all of them!), your favorite cover, and your least favorite cover.
4) Be sure to tag your posts with booktravelingthursdays so we can all see each other’s posts!

The last theme this year is “It’s the last day of 2015! Choose your favorite book read in 2015.”

The obvious answer for this would be a Harry Potter book but I did that last week. I decided instead to do The Fault in Our Stars by John Green. I definitely raved about this book all year!

Original Cover/Cover from My Country (USA):

11870085

This is both the original cover and the cover for my country (The USA)

My Favorite(s):

20821105Movie Edition

A Culpa é das EstrelasPortuguese

Hvězdy nám nepřályCzech

13646586German

I love the Portuguese cover because it’s so beautiful! The movie one is amazing because it actually shows Hazel and Gus. The Czech cover is unique because the title and authors name is inside two hearts. The German cover is beautiful!

Least Favorite(s):

16121916Italian

Een weeffout in onze sterrenDutch

ما تخبئه لنا النجومArabic

Bajo la misma estrellaSpanish

16041590Swedish

There are so many bad ones! The Swedish one at least has to with the story while the Italian one really doesn’t. The Spanish cover is pretty but doesn’t look like Hazel at all.

Thanks for reading and stay tuned for more Book Traveling Thursdays next year 😀

Christmas Haul 2015

Hey everyone! Happy New Years Eve or New Year depending on where you live. This post is a bit late but at least I got it done this year 😉 This Christmas I went to my Grandma’s for brunch, opened lots of presents, and spend lots of time with family.

How was your Christmas? Let me know in the comments!

I decided to take some pictures and show you some of the great gifts I got.

First off, I got lots of Harry Potter clothing. My mom got me quite a few T-shirts including the ones featured in this picture. I also got a Harry Potter beanie! As you know, I’m now absolutely obsessed with all things Harry Potter so this was perfect 🙂

I also received some awesome pajama pants from my mom and some fuzzy polar bear pajamas from my grandma.

These are the exact pajama pants. They are flannel and so comfortable!

FullSizeRender_1This wasn’t the best photo quality but I used my IPad camera 😀

To keep with the fuzzy and warm theme, my mom got me a big blanket and a new sweatshirt.

I couldn’t get a very good picture of the sweatshirt. It’s a zip up hoodie and super comfortable.

I received I Funny TV from my mom and I can’t wait to read it!

My Grandma got me a Marauder’s Map Hot Topic gift card! I absolutely can’t wait to use it 🙂

I got lots of delicious food including this container of different kinds of popcorn.

Our container has a Santa on it but is bigger than this one.

I got more gifts than this but I only wanted to show a few.

What did you get for Christmas? Let me know!

That’s my Christmas Haul. I had more actual pictures but I forgot to edit them before I sent them to my email.

Thanks for reading and stay tuned for more hauls!

Book Review: Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

Hi everyone! Today I am doing a book review of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince by J.K. Rowling. I finished this book a few days ago but haven’t been too motivated to blog lately. I’m feeling more motivated and plan to be more active again 😀

Title: Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (Harry Potter Series #6)

Author: J.K. Rowling

# of pages: 652

My Rating: 5/5 stars

Goodreads Rating: 4.5/5 stars

Amazon Rating: 4.5/5 stars

Barnes and Noble Summary:

Amazon and Goodreads Summaries were uncompleted or not the same as the book

The war against Voldemort is not going well; even Muggle governments are noticing. Ron scans the obituary pages of the Daily Prophet, looking for familiar names. Dumbledore is absent from Hogwarts for long stretches of time, and the Order of the Phoenix has already suffered losses.
And yet…

As in all wars, life goes on. Sixth-year students learn to Apparate — and lose a few eyebrows in the process. The Weasley twins expand their business. Teenagers flirt and fight and fall in love. Classes are never straightforward, though Harry receives some extraordinary help from the mysterious Half-Blood Prince.

So it’s the home front that takes center stage in the multilayered sixth installment of the story of Harry Potter. Here at Hogwarts, Harry will search for the full and complex story of the boy who became Lord Voldemort — and thereby find what may be his only vulnerability.

My Thoughts:

Dang! A lot happened in the 6th book of the 7 book series! I can’t say much but some flirting arises and relationships begin. Dumbledore and Harry continue their battle. I wish I could say more but I know some fellow bloggers haven’t read this book yet so no spoilers 😀

Here are some memes and gifs of Harry Potter for you to enjoy XD

That’s my review of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.

What are your thoughts? Let me know! *NO SPOILERS!*

Thanks for reading and stay tuned for the 7th Harry Potter book review!

Movie Review: Daddy’s Home

Hey everyone! Sorry I’ve been a little bit MIA the last few days. I’m not going to use any excuses for filler posts. Today I went and saw Daddy’s Home.

Movie Title: Daddy’s Home

Release Date: December 25th, 2015 (USA)

Movie Rating: PG 13 (Originally PG)

My Rating: 8.5/10 stars

IMDb Rating: 6.6/10

Movie Trailer:

My Thoughts and Others:

I thought it was a great movie. Some parts made me think it was closely rated to R not PG 13. Many rated it very low. I’m not a film critic but I think people were being too picky. There were some very mature sequences and lots and lots of language. I recommend seeing this only if you can handle the language and amounts of suggestive behavior. Definitely not for young children but there were at least a couple of kids in the movie. These links below may not influence your decision but it’ll give you professional opinions. Most I don’t agree with. Will Ferrell was of course funny and Mark Walberg seemed to be more of the serious guy this time.

IMDb

Rotten Tomatoes

I don’t want to spoil too much so this is my review. Daddy’s Home was a great movie but had quite a few questionable parts.

What are your thoughts on Daddy’s Home? Let Me Know!

Thanks for reading and stay tuned for more movie reviews!

This will be the last one till 2016.

Merry Christmas :D

It’s Christmas! Merry Christmas to everyone who celebrates 🙂 I hope everyone has a brilliant day!

What am I doing for Christmas?

I’m going to be opening lots of amazing gifts at both my house and my grandmas. I’m going to be spending time with lots of family as well as eating lots of delicious food 🙂 My family isn’t very religious but we still honor Jesus’s birth just like everyone else.

Because of all my eating, having fun, and opening gifts, I’m going to try really hard not to spend too much time online. It will be hard but I promise to pop in at least a couple of times tomorrow! I will definitely do a Christmas gift load eventually even if it ends up being a huge post 🙂

What are you guys doing for Christmas? Let me know below! I’ll be looking forward to hearing all about your great days with family and friends 😀

`Tis the Season Book Tag!

1) Do you have a favorite Winter read?

I don’t do any special holiday reading so any book is good for me

Half Blinking Harry XD

2) Find a book with blue on the cover!

This book’s cover is almost entirely blue!

image

3)Find a book you’d use as the star on a Christmas Tree.

I’ve never read this book but it’s yellow like most traditional stars and has a very appealing cover 🙂

4) Pick one fictional place that would be perfect for a Winter vacation!

Everyone seems to be giving this answer, but I’m going to say Hogsmeade. It’d be really cool to be able to drink a butter beer and see everything covered in snow.

5) Pick one fictional character you’d take on your Winter Vacation!

I’m going to have to say Dumbledore 😀

6) Name one book on your wish list this year!

Only one book? That’s hard. I’m going to say Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone illustrated edition. I didn’t actually ask for it so I don’t think I’ll be getting it. XD

7) Favorite Holiday Drink, Treat, & Movie?

My favorite drink is the peppermint hot chocolate from Starbucks!

My favorite treat is all the delicious cookies my grandma makes every year.

Not actual picture of cookies 🙂

My favorite movie… that’s tough. One of my favorites is Frosty the Snowman.

That’s the ‘Tis the Season Tag! I tag EVERYONE who wishes to participate. Merry Christmas everyone! I hope you all have an amazing day 😀

Thanks for reading and stay tuned for more Christmas tags 🙂

Movie Review: Star Wars The Force Awakens

Hey everyone! It’s been such a long time since I’ve done a movie review! Sunday night, I had the pleasure of seeing my first 3D movie. The movie also happened to be Star Wars VII or Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

 pic source (No real URL)

This was my first 3D movie as well as my first Star Wars movie. I know, I know, I should’ve watched the others so I knew what was going on blah blah blah. O f course, I didn’t. There was some new characters and a seriously bada** protagonist named Rey. I can’t spoil anything but she does some amazing things and kicks some butt.

 Movie Trailer:

This is what I would (a.k.a. Google) calls the official trailer. I recommend watching it if you haven’t so you can see a bit of what the movies like. If you’ve seen this several times, you can watch it again of course xD

My Rating and Thoughts:

My Rating: 8/10 stars

IMDb Rating: 8.7/10 stars

My reactions and thoughts in Star Wars memes and more memes:

That’s my review of Star Wars VII! I definitely recommend this movie! I rated it 8/10 because I’m not into Sci-Fi or else it would’ve gotten a 10/10 or even 11/10.

Thanks for reading and stay tuned for more movie reviews next year XD

Are you going to see the movie? Let me know! If you’ve already seen it, let me know what you thought. No matter what, NO SPOILERS! I don’t want to ruin anyone’s movie experience.

Book Traveling Thursdays (#1)

Hey everyone! It’s Thursday and that means it’s time for my very first Book Traveling Thursdays! It’s also Christmas Eve!! This weekly meme was created by Catia @ The Girl Who Read Too Much and Danielle @ Danielle’s Book Blog. You should definitely go check out their amazing blogs! The goal of this meme is to share the covers of a book related to this week’s theme, which you can find at the Goodreads Group. You indicate the original cover, the one of your country, and your favorite and least favorite.

This week’s theme is “It’s Christmas Eve!! Choose a book that occurs in Christmas/Holiday season.” This is a bit of a hard one but because I wanted to start this meme so badly, I chose Harry Potter and Goblet of Fire. I know, I know, this is not a Christmassy book but some of the story does happen during the holiday season.

Original Cover:

6

Cover From My Country (U.S.)

The original and the one for the U.S. look exactly the same.

Favorite Cover(s):

818068Raincoast books edition 2004

1605607Spanish

I of course, also like the original.

The Spanish one is beautiful and has a lot of detail.

Least Favorite Cover(s):

Harry Potter und der Feuerkelch (Harry Potter, #4)German

7979788Bloomsbury edition 2010

1079278 Dutch

101551French

My least favorite has to be the Dutch cover. It is part of the story but isn’t what the overall book is about.

I absolutely love this meme and will be doing it as much as possible.

Thanks for reading and stay tuned for more Book Traveling Thursdays!

All I Want For Christmas Book Tag!!

Hey everyone! I’m so excited that it’s almost Christmas! That’s one of the reasons why I’m going to be doing another Christmas book tag. A special thanks to @Catia. You definitely should check out her amazing blog! Today I am doing the All I Want For Christmas Book Tag.

1) What fictional character do you want Santa to leave under your Christmas tree?

There are several answers to this but I’m going to say Ron Weasley! He is my book crush. I don’t care what happens, I still love him xD

2) Character Do You Want to Kiss Under the Mistletoe?

Shoot! I should’ve saved Ron for this one. Just kidding 😀 I’m going to say either Harry Potter or.. Jake from the Phantom Stallion series.

Me If I met Harry or Jake XD

3) You write your Christmas list for Santa, What are 5 books on it?

  1. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone illustrated edition
  2. Carry On by Rainbow Rowell
  3. Just My Rotten Luck by James Patterson and Chris G.
  4. I Funny TV by James Patterson and Chris G.
  5. Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell

4) It’s Secret Santa at Hogwarts. What do you most want to receive?

I’m going to say chocolate covered frogs or every flavor beans!

5) You get to spend the day with the characters and movie adaption actors from one fandom. What do you pick?

I of course pick the Harry Potter fandom! It would be so amazing to meet all of the book characters as well as the movie actors. That day would be full of some serious fangirling!

6) What fictional animal would you like to replace Rudolph and be able to meet on your roof?

This definitely wouldn’t go well but it would be pretty cool to meet Stitch! Even if he went absolutely crazy, I’m sure Santa and his Christmas spirit would be able to keep him in check!

7) You invite 10 fictional characters to your New Years Eve party. Who do you pick?

  1. Harry Potter
  2. Hermione Granger
  3. Katniss Everdeen
  4. Hazel Grace Lancaster
  5. Dumbledore
  6. Hagrid
  7. Jake from the Phantom Stallion
  8. Sam from Phantom Stallion
  9. Sirius Black (Can he come back to life)
  10. Ron Weasley

I need more than ten people!

8) What character would make a good Santa? (Doesn’t have to be appearance, personality counts too!)

Dumbledore would be a funny Santa 🙂

That’s all! This was a fun tag to do. I tag EVERYONE who wishes to do this tag 🙂

Thanks for reading and stay tuned for more tags 🙂
