2016 Goodreads Reading Challenge Update: January

Hey everyone! I thought I’d do a quick update on my Goodreads Reading Challenge.

Right now I have read at least 3 books. As you know, I have’t been having internet access so I haven’t been able to update as frequently.

You have read 3 of 200 books in 2016.

This is a pretty short update!

How are you doing with your reading challenges? Let me know!

Book Traveling Thursdays (#4)

Hi everyone! It’s time for another Book Traveling Thursdays. This weekly meme was created by Catia @ The Girl Who Read Too Much and Danielle @ Danielle’s Book Blog. Below is all of the info. All copyright goes to the Goodreads Group.

1) Pick a book! At the beginning of every month a list of themes will be posted. All you have to do is choose a book that fits the theme.
2) In your blog post, the first thing you will want to include is an explanation of why your chosen book fits the theme.
2) Look at covers from multiple editions and multiple countries for the book you chose.
3) Finally, include pictures of the original cover, the cover from your country (if their are multiple covers from your country include all of them!), your favorite cover, and your least favorite cover.
4) Be sure to tag your posts with booktravelingthursdays so we can all see each other’s posts!

This week’s theme is:

January 28th – Because some books stay with us forever!! Choose a book you want to re-read in 2016.

I want to reread several books but one of them would be Fangirl. I just read it but will try to read it again sometime this year.

Original Cover and My Country (US):

untitled

Favorite cover(s):

FangirlEnglish

FangirlIndonesian

FangirlEnglish

I love the collector editions. The Indonesian one is adorable!

Least Favorite Cover(s):

ObožavateljkaSerbian

I could only find one I didn’t enjoy. This one just doesn’t represent the book to me.

Thanks for reading and stay tuned to next week’s Book Traveling Thursdays!

Top Ten Tuesdays: Freebie Week!!

Hey everyone! I feel like I haven’t done one of these in absolutely forever! Top Ten Tuesdays is created by the awesome people at The Broke and the Bookish. You should definitely check out their awesome blog!

This week’s theme is: Freebie Week! Pick a topic near and dear to your heart! Something you wished was on our official list!

I have decided to do Ten Favorite Relationships! It’s probably been done but I still am going to do it.

Ten Favorite Relationships:

  1. Harry Potter and Ginny Weasley

This one’s pretty obvious 🙂

2) Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger

Ditto 😀

3) Levi and Cath

They are the cutest couple!!

4)Hazel Grace and Augustus Waters

5) Quentin and Margo

6) Cath and Reagan

They don’t have a romantic relationship but their relationship definitely evolves through out the book.

7)Simon and Baz

I haven’t read Carry On yet but their relationship is seen through the excerpts through out Fangirl.

8)Harry Potter and Dumbledore

Another non-romantic relationship. They definitely have a strong friendship and so much more!

I’ve decided to do just 8. I’ve realized that this is mainly Fangirl and Harry Potter XD

Thanks for reading and stay tuned for more Top Ten Tuesdays!!

Book Review: Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell

Hey everyone!! I’m so sorry I haven’t been on or posting since last weekend!! At least I have an awesome book review for you guys!!

Name: Fangirl

Author: Rainbow Rowell

# of pages: 433

My Rating: 5/5 stars

Goodreads Rating: 4.2/5 stars

Amazon Rating: 4.5/5 stars

Amazon Summary:

In Rainbow Rowell’s Fangirl, Cath is a Simon Snow fan. Okay, the whole world is a Simon Snow fan, but for Cath, being a fan is her life–and she’s really good at it. She and her twin sister, Wren, ensconced themselves in the Simon Snow series when they were just kids; it’s what got them through their mother leaving.

Reading. Rereading. Hanging out in Simon Snow forums, writing Simon Snow fan fiction, dressing up like the characters for every movie premiere.

Cath’s sister has mostly grown away from fandom, but Cath can’t let go. She doesn’t want to.
Now that they’re going to college, Wren has told Cath she doesn’t want to be roommates. Cath is on her own, completely outside of her comfort zone. She’s got a surly roommate with a charming, always-around boyfriend, a fiction-writing professor who thinks fan fiction is the end of the civilized world, a handsome classmate who only wants to talk about words . . . And she can’t stop worrying about her dad, who’s loving and fragile and has never really been alone.

For Cath, the question is: Can she do this?

Can she make it without Wren holding her hand? Is she ready to start living her own life? Writing her own stories?

And does she even want to move on if it means leaving Simon Snow behind?

My Thoughts:

Oh my gosh!! I fell in love with this book from the beginning. Cath and Levi are pretty much my favorite book couple ever!!! This is one of the books I can’t wait to be made into a movie. So many awesome and not so awesome things happened that bound the story together. If you haven’t read Fangirl yet, you definitely need to ASAP. I can’t say too much or I’ll seriously fangirl (no pun intended!) I recommend this book for anyone who loves drama, romance, friendship and so much more!

If  you’ve read it,what do you think of Fangirl? Let me know below!

Thanks for reading and stay tuned for more book reviews 😀

Book Review: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

Hi everyone!! It’s time for the book review I’ve been waiting for. Well, you probably have been too. This was the last Harry Potter book and I am honestly sad the series is over. It’s amazing that I was dreading to read this series at first.

Name: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

Author: J.K. Rowling

# of pages: 784

My Rating: 7.5/5 stars

Goodreads Rating: 4.6/5 stars

Amazon Rating: 4.8/5 stars

Amazon Summary:

The heart of Book 7 is a hero’s mission–not just in Harry’s quest for the Horcruxes, but in his journey from boy to man–and Harry faces more danger than that found in all six books combined, from the direct threat of the Death Eaters and you-know-who, to the subtle perils of losing faith in himself. Attentive readers would do well to remember Dumbledore’s warning about making the choice between “what is right and what is easy,” and know that Rowling applies the same difficult principle to the conclusion of her series. While fans will find the answers to hotly speculated questions about Dumbledore, Snape, and you-know-who, it is a testament to Rowling’s skill as a storyteller that even the most astute and careful reader will be taken by surprise.

A spectacular finish to a phenomenal series, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows is a bittersweet read for fans. The journey is hard, filled with events both tragic and triumphant, the battlefield littered with the bodies of the dearest and despised, but the final chapter is as brilliant and blinding as a phoenix’s flame, and fans and skeptics alike will emerge from the confines of the story with full but heavy hearts, giddy and grateful for the experience.

My Thoughts:

Dang!! This final book was not a disappointment! I can promise that there’s no spoilers in this. Because of no spoilers, I can’t say much. During the first chapter a ton already had happened. J.K. Rowling made sure the readers were twisting and turning down a mysterious path throughout the whole book. One part that really got me was the “19 Years Later” part. I am so excited to see movies 2-7 pt 1 and 2. I rated this book 7.5/5 because it didn’t disappoint. If you haven’t read it yet then I definitely recommend it!

That’s my review of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows!

Thanks for reading and stay tuned for more book reviews.

Here’s this week’s theme:

January 14th – New Year, New You! Choose a book that inspires you.

Total copyright to the Goodreads group.

I have decided to do Wonder by R.J. Palacio. It’s a very inspiring book and I definitely recommend it if you haven’t read it.

Original Cover/My Country (U.S.):

Wonder

Favorite Cover(s):

WonderIndonesian

WunderGerman

18584459Dutch

I really like the original but out of these three my favorite is probably the Dutch one.

Least Favorite(s):

WonderFrench

WonderEnglish

The first one isn’t bad, it just isn’t one of my favorites. The English one just doesn’t symbolize the book in my opinion.

That’s a wrap!

Thanks for reading and stay tuned for next week’s!

Book Review: Dumplin’ By Julie Murphy

Hey everyone! I’m back again. Last night I wasn’t exactly back and I won’t officially be for around a month. Yikes! Today I’m doing a book review. This is a YA book which is a huge change for me. Hopefully I’ll read more of these!

Name: Dumplin’

Author: Julie Murphy

# of pages: 371

My Rating: 4/5 stars

Goodreads Rating: 3.9/5 stars

Amazon Rating: 4.3/5 stars

Age Range: 13+

Amazon Summary:

Dubbed “Dumplin’” by her former beauty queen mom, Willowdean has always been at home in her own skin. Her thoughts on having the ultimate bikini body? Put a bikini on your body. With her all-American-beauty best friend, Ellen, by her side, things have always worked . . .  until Will takes a job at Harpy’s, the local fast-food joint. There she meets Private School Bo, a hot former jock. Will isn’t surprised to find herself attracted to Bo. But she is surprised when he seems to like her back.

Instead of finding new heights of self-assurance in her relationship with Bo, Will starts to doubt herself. So she sets out to take back her confidence by doing the most horrifying thing she can imagine: entering the Miss Teen Blue Bonnet Pageant—along with several other unlikely candidates—to show the world that she deserves to be up there as much as any twiggy girl does. Along the way, she’ll shock the hell out of Clover City—and maybe herself most of all.

My Thoughts:

Dumplin was a great book-mainly. The main character Will or “Dumplin'” is pretty darn loveable. I rated it 4/5 stars because it has a lot of back and forth romance that I wasn’t a huge fan of. Will couldn’t decide who she loved so it was back and forth. I guess that’s how most stories like this are. The ending was sweet and made me very happy. If you’re a fan of love stories, friends, family and so much more.

That’s a wrap! I hope you enjoyed my book review of Dumplin’ by Julie Murphy.

Thanks for reading and stay tuned for more book reviews!
