Book Traveling Thursdays (#7)

Hey everyone! It’s time for another Book Traveling Thursdays. This amazing meme was created by Catia @ The Girl Who Read Too Much and Danielle @ Danielle’s Book Blog. You should definitely check them out! Book Traveling Thursdays is a weekly meme where you are given a theme. You have to find a book that fits the theme. You show the original cover, the cover from your country, your favorite cover(s) and your least favorite. For more information and themes, visit the Goodreads group.

This week’s theme is to Choose an underhyped book that you think everyone should read. I decided to choose The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton. I read this book last school year and definitely think everyone should read it.

Original Cover:

English

Cover From My Country (US):

English

Favorite Cover(s):

6439131English (Sorry for the bad quality)
430556German

Rebeldes Spanish

The OutsidersEnglish

The majority of the editions are English so there isn’t much of a language diversity for this one. My favorite is the English one from the U.S.

Least Favorite Cover(s):

ProscrişiiRomanian

The OutsidersEnglish

RebeldesUnknown

OutsidersFrench

Me kolme ja jengiFinnish

What is the point of the French one?! The book isn’t about booties. That’s definitely my least favorite.

Thanks for reading and Stay tuned for more Book Traveling Thursdays!

Book Review: Bloomability by Sharon Cheech

Hey everyone! It’s time for another Book Review! This is a Young Teen book. This one is for Grades 3-7 or ages 7-13. I am over 13 though so the age ranges don’t really matter. Let’s jump right in 😀

Name: Bloomability

Author: Sharon Chreech

# of pages: 273

My Rating: 5.5/5 stars

Goodreads Rating: 4.1/5 stars

Amazon Rating: 4.6/5 stars

Amazon Summary:

Kidnapped!

The kidnappers are actually her Aunt Sandy and Uncle Max, but that doesn’t matter to Domenica Santolina Doone, better known as Dinnie. She feels as if she’s being taken out of the country against her will. Certainly no one asked her opinion. Dinnie is used to change-with her family constantly moving from state to state while her father searches for one new “opportunity” after another. But when her aunt and uncle whisk her away to an international school in Lugano, Switzerland, Dinnie feels that this might be one “opportunity”that isn’t right for her.

Suddenly Dinnie’s surrounded by kids from many different cultures, backgrounds, and beliefs. Home, and her first life, seem so far away. Can she adapt to a new country, a new home, and new friends? Or will it just be easier to close herself off-just survive-and never realize all the “bloomabilities” that are possible?

My Thoughts:

This is such an amazing book! Once again, Sharon Chreech has wowed me again. Her characters like Dinny and Aunt Sandy are so lovable and seemingly real! I recommend this book to anyone who loves adventure, friendship, family. I really fell in love with Dinny and how much she cared for her friends.

That’s a wrap!

Stay tuned for more book reviews and Thanks for reading 🙂

Book Traveling Thursdays (#6)

Hey everyone!! It’s time for Book Traveling Thursdays. This weekly meme is hosted by Catia @ The Girl Who Read Too Much and Danielle @ Danielle’s Book Blog. You should definitely check out their blogs 🙂 If you want to see the rules and themes go to the Goodreads group. This week’s theme is:

Crying is not always bad. Choose a book that made you ugly cry

I honestly don’t really ever cry while reading. I get a bit teary eyed or sad but I don’t cry. Therefore, I just chose a book that made other people cry but not me. I chose MockingJay by Suzanne Collins.

Original Cover/Cover From My Country (US):

Mockingjay (The Hunger Games, #3)English

Favorite Cover(s):

Mockingjay (The Hunger Games, #3)English

Revolt (Hungerspelstrilogin, #3)Swedish

Sjaj slobode (Igre gladi, #3)Serbian

Matkijanärhi (Nälkäpeli, #3)Finnish

Sinsajo (Los juegos del hambre, #3)Spanish

My favorite out of all of these is the English one. It’s so bright and colorful.

Least Favorite Cover(s):

الطائر المقلدArabic

Die Tribute von Panem: Flammender Zorn (Die Tribute von Panem, #3)German

Spotgaai (De Hongerspelen, #3)Dutch

There was a few more but Goodreads wouldn’t let me go beyond page 1. My least favorite is probably the first one. It doesn’t have anything to do with the book.

That’s all!

Thanks for reading and stay tuned for more Book Traveling Thursdays!

Book Review: Promise by Judy Young

Hey everyone! Today I am doing a Young Teen Book Review. Young Teen books are for grades 4-8 or ages 8-14. Today’s book is Promise by Judy Young.

Name: Promise

Author: Judy Young

# of pages: 351

My Rating: 4.5/5 stars

Goodreads Rating: 3.7/5 (pretty low rating!)

Amazon Rating: 5/5 stars

Release Date: 2015

Amazon Summary:

Eleven-year-old Kaden has managed to stay under the radar for most of his life. With the exception of Kubla, a pet crow, Kaden doesn’t have any friends his own age and he’s okay with that. After all, friends can ask inconvenient questions. Questions like Why do you live with your grandmother and where is your father? Questions Kaden doesn’t want to answer. Apart from school and a few trips to town, Kaden and Gram keep to themselves, living a simple life at their cabins outside the small community of Promise. But now Kaden’s life is getting a lot more complicated. He’s starting middle school, which brings its own set of problems for a boy who doesn’t fit in. And then he learns that his father, a man he has never known, is getting out of prison and moving to Promise. After years of being the outsider at school, Kaden is given a chance to come out of his shell when Yo-Yo, a new boy, moves to the area and offers friendship. But can Kaden trust him? Will Yo-Yo be a real friend after he learns about Kaden’s father?

My Thoughts:

This book definitely had lots of twists and turns in the plot. Because of that, I couldn’t stop turning the pages! Kaden’s father Dennis is definitely an interesting character. I recommend this book to anyone! The age range is for 9-11 but I’m over 13 and really enjoyed it.

Book Review Info!

Hey everyone! Happy Presidents Day! This is just another day off from school for me 🙂 I have decided to do a short run down of what I have decided to do for my book reviews.

  • If you are new to my blog, my book review set ups are like this:

-Introduction

-General Book Information (Ratings, # of pages, etc.)

-Summary of book from Amazon or Goodreads

-My thoughts about the book.

This is a pretty short post to tell you about my book reviews. I hope you’ll enjoy them as much as possible 😀

2) Look at covers from multiple editions and multiple countries for the book you chose.
3) Finally, include pictures of the original cover, the cover from your country (if their are multiple covers from your country include all of them!), your favorite cover, and your least favorite cover.

You can find themes and more at the Goodreads group here.
This week’s theme: It’s almost Valentine’s Day! Choose your favorite couple.
This week’s theme is a bit vague. I will be doing Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. I know I already did a Harry Potter book but Harry and Ginny are one of my favorite couples.

Original Cover/Cover from My Country (US):

Favorite Cover(s):

Harry Potter Et Les Reliques De La Mort (Harry Potter, #7)French

Harry Potter y las reliquias de la muerte (Harry Potter, #7)Spanish

Гаррі Поттер і смертельні реліквії (Гаррі Поттер, #7)Ukrainian

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (Harry Potter, #7)English

I had trouble finding covers I liked. My favorite out of these three is the first English one.

Harry Potter e i doni della morte (Harry Potter, #7)Italian

Harry Potter och Dödsrelikerna (Harry Potter, #7)Swedish

Harry Potter & the Deathly Hallows (Harry Potter, #7)English

My absolute least favorite is either the Greek or Swedish one.

There wasn’t a huge variety of covers. I apologize for the vast majority being English editions.

3)The Fault in Our Stars-John Green

4)Harry Potter-Sirius Black (Not very romantic XD)

6)Twilight-Edward (Never read this book!)

7)Paper Towns-Quentin

8) Paper Towns-John Green

9)The Hunger Games

The Friends Book Tag!

Hey everyone! It’s Sunday and that means back to school tomorrow. I haven’t done a book tag or any tag in forever! I stumbled across The Friends Book Tag on My Tiny Obsessions. You should definitely check out her blog!

The One Where Eddie Won’t Go-A Character I Wish Would Just Go Away:

The obvious answer would be Lord Voldemort. I’m going to say Nick from Fangirl. I just didn’t end up liking him and he just got in the way of Levi and Cath.

The One Where Ross and Rachel Take A Break-Favorite Break Up Scene:

I don’t ever love break up scenes but the one that comes to mind is Harry and Cho Chung’s comes to mind. It was so sad and short.

The One With All The Kissing-A Book With Lots of Kissing:

One word: Dumplin’

The Last One- Favorite Series Finale:

I never enjoy finale’s but I’m going to say Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallow. The Epilogue really got me.

The One With A Blackout- A Scene I’d Like To Forget:

Nothing comes to mind… I’ve read way too many books

The One Where Chandler Can’t Cry- A Book That Did Not Make You As Emotional As Others:

I am not very emotional when reading books so I’ll just say… MockingJay.

The One Where Joey Doesn’t Share Food-A Book You Won’t Ever Lend:

ALL OF THEM! Nobody ever wants my books anyway XD

The One With The Thumb-A Recent Read You Would Give Two Thumbs Up To:

I’m going to have to say Steering Towards Normal by Rebecca Petruck.

The One With The Ick Factor- A Book With A Pet Peeve:

Again, I’m going to have to say Dumplin’. The romance was way too back and forth for me.

The One With The Lesbian Wedding- Favorite LGBTQ Book Couple:

I honestly need to read more LGBTQ books. I’m looking forward to Simon and Baz in Carry On though.

I tag: EVERYONE who wants to participate. It’s definitely a fun tag 🙂

Thanks for reading and stay tuned for more tags!
