Halloween is here! Choose a spooky read that you have either read or want to read.

Since I don’t like reading spooky books, I have decided to do a spooky read I don’t want to read. I have chosen Miss Peregrines School For Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs. It’s a book with some lower reviews and a movie coming out. I definitely don’t want to read it.

Original Cover/Cover From My Country:

Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children (Miss Peregrine’s Peculiar Children, #1)

Favorite Cover(s):

Die Insel der besonderen KinderGerman

Trại Trẻ Đặc Biệt Của Cô Peregrine (Miss Peregrine’s Peculiar Children, #1)Vietmanese

Osobliwy dom pani PeregrinePolish

My favorite out of these is the German one. Normally German covers are among my least favorites. This cover is my favorite because of the colors and how the girl seems to be floating higher then in the original.

Least Favorite(s):

El hogar de Miss Peregrine para niños peculiares (Miss Peregrine’s Peculiar Children, #1)Spanish

This is the movie one but it still isn’t the best.

La casa per bambini speciali di Miss PeregrineItalian

My least favorite out of these two is the movie cover. No hate to the Spanish cover. Other countries have the exact same one. I first saw it as the Spanish one when I disliked it. It’s too bright and cheerful.

That’s a wrap! The covers for this were mainly identical to the original and the Spanish. Hopefully next month will have more diverse covers. What is your favorite spooky read? Let me know!

Thanks for reading and stay tuned for next week’s BTT!

Book Review| The Great American Whatever

Hey everyone! It’s time for another book review! This one is called The Great American Whatever by Tim Federle. It’s a newer young adult book. Let’s get started!

Title: The Great American Whatever

Author: Tim Federle

Image result

# of pages: 288

Genre: Young Adult, LGBT, Family Issues

Published Date: March 29th, 2016

Rating: 4/5 stars

Summary (From Amazon):

Quinn Roberts is a sixteen-year-old smart aleck and Hollywood hopeful whose only worry used to be writing convincing dialogue for the movies he made with his sister Annabeth. Of course, that was all before—before Quinn stopped going to school, before his mom started sleeping on the sofa…and before the car accident that changed everything.

Enter: Geoff, Quinn’s best friend who insists it’s time that Quinn came out—at least from hibernation. One haircut later, Geoff drags Quinn to his first college party, where instead of nursing his pain, he meets a guy—okay, a hot guy—and falls, hard. What follows is an upside-down week in which Quinn begins imagining his future as a screenplay that might actually have a happily-ever-after ending—if, that is, he can finally step back into the starring role of his own life story.

My Thoughts:

This was an overall good book. The characters were very detailed. The plot had some small issues but it was pretty enjoyable. I hope Tim Federle writes more YA books. You should definitely give this book a try.

That’s a wrap! I apologize for such  brief and vague thoughts.  Have you read this book? Are you going to? Let me know!

Thanks for reading and stay tuned for more book reviews!

Library Book Haul (#8)

Hey everyone! The Top Ten Tuesday topic didn’t spur any ideas so I decided to do a library book haul instead. I haven’t done a library book haul in a long time so this should be fun! This haul consists of two young adult books and three tween books.

fullsizerender-6

*All These Book Covers Are Linked To Goodreads*

1. Highly Illogical Behavior by John Corey Whaley

Highly Illogical Behavior

This book has been floating around for a bit. I’m finally going to read it and see if I enjoy it. It’s a book about a boy who is agoraphobic. He hasn’t left his house in three years. A girl named Lisa wants to try to change that. It reminds me of Everything, Everything by Nicola Yoon a bit. I’ll definitely do a review.

2. Chasing Secrets by Gennifer Choldenko

Chasing Secrets

A tween book set in 1900’s San Francisco. It revolves around a girl named Lizzie and her adventures. I have enjoyed historic fiction before so I wanted to give this a shot. It’s a tween book so no review.

3.  The Thing About Jellyfish by Ali Benjamin

The Thing About Jellyfish

A tween book about a girl named Suzie. After her friend dies in a drowning accident, Suzie is sure it was caused by a jellyfish sting. She goes to extreme lengths to prove her theory. There will be no review.

4. Poached by Stuart Gibbs

Poached (FunJungle #2)

A tween book about a boy named Teddy who’s trying to solve the mystery of the Koala captors. No review will be done.

5. To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before (Book #1) by Jenny Han

To All the Boys I've Loved Before (To All the Boys I've Loved Before, #1)

A young adult book about a girl named Lara. Instead of confessing her feelings to her crushes, she writes them letters. Her secret letters to her crushes are sealed as if to be sent off. When the box of letters is somehow mailed, she’s confronted by ex-crushes. A review will be done.

That’s a wrap! Have you read any of these books? Let me know your thoughts!

Thanks for reading and stay tuned for more library book hauls!

Tomorrow is World Smile Day! Choose a book that made you smile recently.

This was tough since I haven’t been reading too much recently. I decided to do  The Odyssey by Homer. It’s a classic poem about a man named Odysseus and his travels. I recently finished this as a class read at school. It was fairly enjoyable and made me towards the end.

Original Cover/Cover From My Country (US):

No original cover. It’s  ancient Greek story/poem so there’s no exact original cover.

There’s really no exact cover for my country!

Favorite Cover(s):

الأوديسةArabic

La OdiseaSpanish

L'Odyssée (traduction de Leconte de Lisle)French

Ομήρου ΟδύσσειαGreek (Modern)

The Spanish one is my favorite out of these because of the detail and the color.

Least Favorite Cover(s):

La OdiseaSpanish

OdysseeGerman

OdisseaItalian

OdisseiaPortuguese

What happened Portugal? Did you forget to make a cover?

There was n0 fantastic covers for this one. Have you read or heard of The Odyssey? Let me know what you thought!

Top Ten Tuesday| Comic Book Villains

Hey everyone! I’m so sorry for being MIA once again. Anyway,  It’s time for another Top Ten Tuesday! This weekly meme is hosted by the fantastic people @ The Broke and the Bookish! You definitely need to check their blog out if you haven’t already. This week’s topic is:

All About The Villains–top ten favorite/most compelling villains in books, top ten of the most vile villains/bad guys in books, top ten villains I secretly (or not so secretly) love, favorite tv villains, favorite comic book villains, ten “villains” of contemporary lit.

As you can probably tell by the title, I have chosen to do ten comic book villains. They may or may not be my favorites. Who knows?

Ten Comic Book Villains!

1. Joker-DC Universe (Batman)

He’s so creepy, the enemy of Batman and has such a strange laugh. What’s not to love?

2. Doctor Octopus or Doc Ock- Marvel Comics (Spiderman)

He has so many metal arms and he’s one of the many enemies of Spiderman.

6. Venom- DC Comics (Spiderman)

A creature who can take over other bodies. He then uses them to his advantage. Himself alone, is frightening. His voice is terrifying and his attacks dangerous.
