Book Traveling Thursday (#37)|2017

Hey everyone! It’s the final Book Traveling Thursday of 2016. It’s also the final weekly meme related post of the year. Book Traveling Thursday is a weekly meme hosted by Cátia @ The Girl Who Read Too Much  and Danielle @ Danielle’s Book Blog. Danielle has been inactive since last year so technically it’s just Cátia manning this ship alone. Kudos to her! To find out more information, future themes and more, go visit the meme’s Goodreads group here. This last theme is one that looks ahead to the New Year.

2016 is coming to an end… Choose a book you want to read in 2017!

I have decided to do a book that will be released next year. It’s called The Upside of Unrequited by Becky Albertalli.

Original/Cover From My Country (US)/Favorite Cover:

The Upside of Unrequited

This is the only cover this week. Since this book isn’t even released yet, there isn’t any other covers. That’s also why there is no least favorites. I love the cover and can’t wait to read this when it comes out April 11th.

That’s a wrap! Sorry, this post wasn’t very exciting. What books are on your TBR for 2017? Let me know!

Thanks for reading and see you next year with more weekly meme posts!

Top 5 Wednesday (#2)| New Years Eve Party

Hey everyone! It’s time for the new meme for Wednesday on this blog. There wasn’t too much response on whether or not you guys enjoyed this. I did so I will continue 🙂 Top 5 Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by gingerreadslainey and Sam @ Thoughts On Tomes. Both of these lovely ladies have YouTube blogs as opposed to regular ones like this one. To find out more information, future topics and more, visit the meme’s Goodreads group here. This week’s topic is the last one for the year. It is New Year’s based.

Characters You’d Invite to Your New Year’s Eve Party
Pretty self explanatory. Who would you want to your NYE bash and why?

top-5-wednesdays

Characters I’d Invite To My NYE Bash:

1. Hagrid- Harry Potter

Can you imagine how fantastic the party would be with Hagrid there? He would be hilarious and the life of the party 😀

2. Dumbledore-Harry Potter

Dumbledore would make the party amazing! He seems like he would be the quiet person that occasionally says things that make everyone laugh.

3. Kitty-To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before

She’s a kid but always entertains me. She’d be the one trying and possibly succeeding in making everyone laugh.

4. Levi-Fangirl

Levi would be the type of person making sure everyone is having a good time. He’s such a nice guy that would really add life to my party.

5. Effie Trinket-The Hunger Games

Effie is so strange and unique. She’d probably be the one everyone is enthralled by but also scared of.

That’s a wrap! I would definitely invite more than these five. These are just the ones that randomly came to mind. I only did two Harry Potter characters. I’m glad the list has some variety. Who would you invite to your New Year’s Eve Bash? Let me know who and why!

Thanks for reading and stay tuned for more T5W!

The Christmas Tag!

Hey everyone! It’s time for a Christmas themed tag! Since I celebrate Christmas, these are the kind of posts I do this time of year. If you don’t celebrate Christmas, you do you! I wasn’t tagged for this, I just saw it floating around on the internet. Let’s get started!

The Christmas Book Tag

1. What is your favorite Christmas film?

I love Frosty The Snowman, How The Grinch Stole Christmas and Home Alone. Those are just my top three. There are so many amazing Christmas movies!

 2. Have You Ever Had A White Christmas?

Only once that I can remember. Even then it wasn’t really a white Christmas. It just snowed a bit. Where I live, it doesn’t snow a whole lot so white Christmas’ don’t really happen.

3. Where Do You Usually Spend Your Holiday?

Christmas Eve is normally at home with the family I live with or extended family. Christmas has always been at my Grandma’s house. Sometimes there’s gatherings with family before or after Christmas. It really depends on what’s going on.

What Is Your Favorite Christmas Song?

This shouldn’t be a question! One of my favorite songs is Winter Wonderland.

Do You Open Any Christmas Presents On Christmas Eve?

We get to open 1-3 presents and then the rest are saved for Christmas.

Can You Name All Of Santa’s Reindeer?

Nope… Rudolph, Vixen, Blitzen, Dasher, Dancer, Comet and Cupid. I looked it up and I only missed two!

What Christmas Traditions Are You Looking Forward To This Year?

Today I will be going to my Grandmas for a small gathering. We have brunch, open presents and stockings. It’s a fun time and very relaxed. On Christmas Eve we normally just stay home but this year we had people over. That might be a new tradition!

Is Your Christmas Tree Real Or Fake?

Ours is real. It’s the biggest one we’ve gotten. I’ve never had a fake tree but  I know people who always have one.

Be Honest, Do You Like Giving Or Receiving Gifts Better?

I enjoy both but it’s satisfying to buy a gift for someone and see their reaction to it.

What’s The Best Christmas Gift You Ever Received?

I honestly have no idea. I can’t remember most of the gifts I received. That doesn’t mean they weren’t amazing, I just can’t remember small specific things like that.

What’s Your Dream Place To Visit For The Holiday Season?

Disneyland, London, New York and Hogwarts. A wide variety of course 🙂

Are You A Pro Present Wrapper Or Do You Fail Miserably?

I consider myself not too bad but other people’s skills blow me away. For the very few gifts I bought, I decided to just use gift bags this year.

Most Memorable Christmas Moment?

My first Christmas was probably pretty memorable. Every Christmas is memorable for me in its own way.

What Made You Realize The Truth About Santa?

Truth? What truth? I’m just kidding. My parents kept it going for a very long time. The kids at school ruined it for me. I was in denial until a few years ago. I’m still a teenager so that was when I was a child.

What Makes The  Holidays Special For You?

Spending time with family! There’s some family that I don’t get to see much so the holidays are the only time I can do that.

I tag anyone who needs a last-minute post! Since it’s Christmas today, nobody will be doing this anymore. Merry Christmas, and if you don’t celebrate, Happy Holidays!

Book Traveling Thursday (#36)|Christmas!

Hey everyone! It’s time for a holiday themed Book Traveling Thursday! This wonderful weekly meme is hosted by Cátia @ The Girl Who Read Too Much and Danielle @ Danielle’s Book Blog. To find out more info about the meme, future themes and more, visit the meme’s Goodreads group here. This week’s theme is:

It’s Christmas Time!! Choose a book that makes you think about Christmas. (If you don’t celebrate Christmas you can choose a book that features any other festivity)

I decided to pick a classic picture book since I couldn’t think of any YA books. I chose How The Grinch Stole Christmas by Dr. Seuss.

Original/Cover From My Country (US):

How the Grinch Stole Christmas

Favorite Cover(s):

Comment le Grinch A Vole Noel (French Edition)French

Il GrinchItalian

Le GrinchFrench

Most of the covers were like the original so there’s slim pickings for this one. France knew what they were doing with this one. My favorite is the movie one because of how it shows the movie Grinch and that’s it. No extra pictures or anything that has nothing to do with the story.

Least Favorite Cover(s):

Cum a furat Grinch Crăciunul

Every cover like this one that’s just like the original. The only different is the language. Use a little imagination!

That’s a wrap! The covers were not never diverse this week. What’s your favorite Christmas story? Let me know!

Thanks for reading and stay tuned for more Book Traveling Thursday!

Hey everyone! This is my first TTT in forever! It’s good to finally be back. If you didn’t already know, Top Ten Tuesday or TTT was created by The Broke and The Bookish. Go check their wonderful Blogger blog out 🙂 Christmas is in five days and that means it’s time for a Christmas themed topic!

Ten Books I Wouldn’t Mind Santa Leaving Under My Tree (or non-book bookworm items)

Ten Things I’d Wouldn’t Mind Santa Leaving Under My Tree:

1. Harry Potter and the Cursed Child

Believe it or not, I have yet to own or even read this book. I’ve heard it’s pretty good but haven’t had the chance to read it. That’s why I wouldn’t mind finding it under my tree!

2. The Sun Is Also A Star

This book came out recently and I’m so excited to read it. It’s by Nicola Yoon, the author of Everything,Everything. Since that book blew my mind, I can’t wait to read her second book!

3. Movie Tickets To Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them

I still haven’t seen this movie!! I’ve heard it’s incredible and am running out of time to see it. Some movie tickets all ready to go would help a ton!

4. Bookish Posters!

My walls are super bare and I’d love to have a bookish poster or two to fill some gaps.

5. Book Related T-Shirts

I am a teen who loves graphic t-shirts. It would be amazing to have book related ones about books in general or specific ones.

6. A Bookshelf!

While I do have a sort of bookshelf, I’d love a real one. There are some huge beautiful ones that I would love to own (but don’t have room for).

7. A Cozy Blanket!

Strangely enough, I don’t own any cozy blankets. Where I live, it’s been unusually freezing and a blanket is definitely necessary.

8. A Mug!

I’ve been literally obsessed with hot chocolate this year. We own a few mugs but I’d love a personal one.

9. A Book Box Subscription!

I’ve seen monthly book boxes floating around. They look and sound fantastic but they’re a bit too expensive for me. That’s why I’m asking Santa for some help 🙂

10. A Sweatshirt

I love sweatshirts so much. They are my go to for around the house or out and about. I definitely could use a couple more.

Book Review|Are We There Yet-David Levithan

Hey everyone! It’s the beginning of the work week! I’m still in school and am on winter break. No stress for a bit. Today I am going to finally be doing a review of Are We There Yet By David Levithan. It’s not a well-known book but is still in the teen genre. Let me know if you’ve read the book or plan to after reading this review!

“Although it is such a singular word, there are many variations of alone. There is the alone of an empty beach at twilight. There is the alone of an empty hotel room. There is the alone of being caught in a throng of people. There is the alone of missing a particular person. And there is the alone of being with a particular person and realizing you are still alone.”

Are We There Yet?Image resultDavid Levithan

# of Pages: 215

Genre: Young Adult/Family

My Rating: 3.5/5 stars

Publication: March 13th, 2007

A Bit of A Summary:

Are We There Yet is a story about two brothers named Danny and Elijah. Danny is 23 years old and has a job. He’s hardworking and successful. Elijah is 16 and still in High School. He’s penniless and has drug issues. They have a strained relationship. When their parents send them off on a trip to Italy, they’re forced to spend countless hours together. When Elijah meets Julia, Danny is cast off, and the brothers are separated once again. Julia’s unsure about her feelings and Danny is forced to make a decision. He can either honor his relationship with his brother or follow his heart. Read the book to find out what he chooses!

Cons:

There are some using and mentions of drugs in this book. If that bugs you, steer clear. It’s overall plot is a bit dry. The story is told from a third person point of view. It’s interesting but doesn’t always do the story its justice. There isn’t much of a back story on any of the characters but you get to learn a bit about them.

Overall:

Are We There Yet is a quick read. I enjoyed the setting and the descriptions of Italy and it’s attractions.  It’s not my favorite book but is definitely worth a try.

That’s a wrap! What did you think about this style of book reviewing? Let me know!

Thanks for reading and stay tuned for more book reviews!
