Book Traveling Thursday (#38)|New Year

Hey everyone! It’s time for the 38th Book Traveling Thursday! This weekly meme is hosted by the wonderful Cátia @ The Girl Who Read Too Much. Go check her blog out for all things bookish. To find out more information, future themes and more, go visit the meme’s Goodreads group here. This is the first BTT of 2017. This week’s theme is centered around new beginnings.

New beginnings… Choose a book you would like to read for the first time again.

There is so many books that I’ve already done that would be perfect for this. I have decided to do To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han. I’d love to be introduced to the characters all over again. I am absolutely in love with Jenny Han’s two books in the series.

Original/Cover From My Country (US):

To All the Boys I've Loved Before (To All the Boys I've Loved Before, #1)

Favorite Cover(s):

Những chàng trai năm ấy (To All the Boys I've Loved Before, #1)Vietnamese

Besides the original, this was the only different looking cover I enjoyed. Props to the creators of the Vietnamese cover!!

Least Favorite Cover(s):

Do wszystkich chłopców, których kochałam (To All the Boys I've Loved Before, #1)Polish

This was the only cover I didn’t particularly like. It just doesn’t fit the book. Sorry Poland.

That’s a wrap! I thought this book would have a ton of covers. Most of them looked pretty similar to the original. These were the only two that didn’t. Hopefully the covers will be more diverse next week! What book would you read for the first time again?

Thanks for reading and stay tuned for more Book Traveling Thursday!!

1. Side Effects May Vary by Julie Murphy-Teen

Side Effects May Vary

What if you’d been living your life as if you were dying—only to find out that you had your whole future ahead of you?

When sixteen-year-old Alice is diagnosed with leukemia, her prognosis is grim. To maximize the time she does have, she vows to spend her final months righting wrongs—however she sees fit. She convinces her friend Harvey, who she knows has always had feelings for her, to help her with a crazy bucket list that’s as much about revenge (humiliating her ex-boyfriend and getting back at her archnemesis) as it is about hope (doing something unexpectedly kind for a stranger). But just when Alice’s scores are settled, she goes into remission.

Now Alice is forced to face the consequences of all that she’s said and done, as well as her true feelings for Harvey. But has she caused irreparable damage to the people around her—and to the one person who matters most?

Julie Murphy’s Side Effects May Vary is a fearless and moving tour de force about love, life, and facing your own mortality.

2. Stormwalker by Mike Revell-Young Teen

Stormwalker

Ever since his mother died, 11-year-old Owen has felt lost. He’s drifting apart from his dad, his grades are dropping, and the only thing keeping him sane are the soccer trials coming up.

Then, in the middle of school one day, he is sucked out of real life and thrown into a desolate alternative world, a largely deserted wasteland where a menacing storm of Darkness plagues the city, threatening his life and the lives of the people who dwell there.

Terrifying as this new world is, Owen recognizes it–his dad is an author, and this is the setting of his new novel. Fueled by his grief over the loss of his mom, Owen’s dad has conjured a world so real and so fraught that Owen is transported to it every time his dad sets pen to paper. And he has to live out every word in the story.

But each jump devours chunks of his real life. Owen misses days of school, and even a key soccer game that threatens his chances of having a shot at appearing in the tryouts at all. Owen desperately wants these events to stop, but doesn’t want to plunge his dad any further into the well of unhappiness that threatens to drown them both.

With social services threatening to ship Owen off to his aunt’s house and his school career spiraling out of control, what if finishing the story and battling the Darkness is the only way Owen can save himself . . . and his dad?

3. Big Game by Stuart Gibbs-Young Teen

Big Game (FunJungle #3)

When someone takes aim at Rhonda Rhino, FunJungle’s pregnant (and endangered) Asian greater one-horned rhinoceros, the zoo steps up security measures in order to protect this rare animal and her baby.

But the extra security isn’t enough;someone is still getting too close for comfort. Teddy and company start to suspect that whoever is after Rhonda is really after her horn, which is worth a lot of money on the black market.

For the first time ever, the head of the zoo enlists Teddy for help; for once, he doesn’t have to sneak around in order to investigate, and the results are even more wacky, and even more dangerous, than ever before.

4. Five Days Of Famous By Alyson Noel-Young Teen

Five Days of Famous

A dream is a wish your heart makes . . . when your life is in desperate need of a makeover. Nick Dashaway would know. Either he makes it big this year in seventh grade or he risks being a nobody forever.
Enter the Greentree Middle School Talent Show, hosted by teen sensation Josh Frost. The show might just be Nick s ticket out of loserville. But popularity doesn’t come easy, and when Nick is forcibly ejected from the stage, he feels like he s out of options. Desperate to avoid a permanent seat at the geek table and continued inattention from the love of his life, Nick chooses the only option he has left: he makes a wish.

“Be careful what you wish for, ” the old saying goes and Nick is about to find out why.

5.  The Raven Boys (The Raven Cycle #1) By Maggie Stiefvater

The Raven Boys (The Raven Cycle, #1)

Every year, Blue Sargent stands next to her clairvoyant mother as the soon-to-be dead walk past. Blue herself never sees them—not until this year, when a boy emerges from the dark and speaks directly to her. His name is Gansey, and Blue soon discovers that he is a rich student at Aglionby, the local private school. Blue has a policy of staying away from Aglionby boys. Known as Raven Boys, they can only mean trouble.

But Gansey is different. He has it all—family money, good looks, devoted friends—but he’s looking for much more. He is on a quest that has encompassed three other Raven Boys: Adam, the scholarship student who resents all the privilege around him; Ronan, the fierce soul who ranges from anger to despair; and Noah, the taciturn watcher of the four, who notices many things but says very little.

For as long as she can remember, Blue has been told by her psychic family that she will kill her true love. She never thought this would be a problem. But now, as her life becomes caught up in the strange and sinister world of the Raven Boys, she’s not so sure anymore.

6. Fans Of The Impossible Life By Kate Scelsa

Fans of the Impossible Life

Mira is starting over at Saint Francis Prep. She promised her parents she would at least try to pretend that she could act like a functioning human this time, not a girl who can’t get out of bed for days on end, who only feels awake when she’s with Sebby.

Jeremy is the painfully shy art nerd at Saint Francis who’s been in self-imposed isolation after an incident that ruined his last year of school. When he sees Sebby for the first time across the school lawn, it’s as if he’s been expecting this blond, lanky boy with mischief glinting in his eye.

Sebby, Mira’s gay best friend, is a boy who seems to carry sunlight around with him. Even as life in his foster home starts to take its toll, Sebby and Mira together craft a world of magic rituals and impromptu road trips, designed to fix the broken parts of their lives.

As Jeremy finds himself drawn into Sebby and Mira’s world, he begins to understand the secrets that they hide in order to protect themselves, to keep each other safe from those who don’t understand their quest to live for the impossible.

Book Traveling Thursday (#37)|2017

Hey everyone! It’s the final Book Traveling Thursday of 2016. It’s also the final weekly meme related post of the year. Book Traveling Thursday is a weekly meme hosted by Cátia @ The Girl Who Read Too Much  and Danielle @ Danielle’s Book Blog. Danielle has been inactive since last year so technically it’s just Cátia manning this ship alone. Kudos to her! To find out more information, future themes and more, go visit the meme’s Goodreads group here. This last theme is one that looks ahead to the New Year.

2016 is coming to an end… Choose a book you want to read in 2017!

I have decided to do a book that will be released next year. It’s called The Upside of Unrequited by Becky Albertalli.

Original/Cover From My Country (US)/Favorite Cover:

The Upside of Unrequited

This is the only cover this week. Since this book isn’t even released yet, there isn’t any other covers. That’s also why there is no least favorites. I love the cover and can’t wait to read this when it comes out April 11th.

That’s a wrap! Sorry, this post wasn’t very exciting. What books are on your TBR for 2017? Let me know!

Thanks for reading and see you next year with more weekly meme posts!

Top 5 Wednesday (#2)| New Years Eve Party

Hey everyone! It’s time for the new meme for Wednesday on this blog. There wasn’t too much response on whether or not you guys enjoyed this. 3. Kitty-To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before

She’s a kid but always entertains me. She’d be the one trying and possibly succeeding in making everyone laugh.

4. Levi-Fangirl

Levi would be the type of person making sure everyone is having a good time. He’s such a nice guy that would really add life to my party.

5. Effie Trinket-The Hunger Games

Effie is so strange and unique. She’d probably be the one everyone is enthralled by but also scared of.

That’s a wrap! I would definitely invite more than these five. These are just the ones that randomly came to mind. I only did two Harry Potter characters. I’m glad the list has some variety. Who would you invite to your New Year’s Eve Bash? Let me know who and why!

The Christmas Tag!

Hey everyone! It’s time for a Christmas themed tag! Since I celebrate Christmas, these are the kind of posts I do this time of year. If you don’t celebrate Christmas, you do you! I wasn’t tagged for this, I just saw it floating around on the internet. Let’s get started!

The Christmas Book Tag

1. What is your favorite Christmas film?

I love Frosty The Snowman, How The Grinch Stole Christmas and Home Alone. Those are just my top three. There are so many amazing Christmas movies!

Image result for frosty the snowmanImage result for how the grinch stole christmasImage result for home alone

 2. Have You Ever Had A White Christmas?

Only once that I can remember. Even then it wasn’t really a white Christmas. It just snowed a bit. Where I live, it doesn’t snow a whole lot so white Christmas’ don’t really happen.

Image result for white christmas

3. Where Do You Usually Spend Your Holiday?

Christmas Eve is normally at home with the family I live with or extended family. Christmas has always been at my Grandma’s house. Sometimes there’s gatherings with family before or after Christmas. It really depends on what’s going on.

Image result for merry christmas meme

What Is Your Favorite Christmas Song?

This shouldn’t be a question! One of my favorite songs is Winter Wonderland.

Do You Open Any Christmas Presents On Christmas Eve?

We get to open 1-3 presents and then the rest are saved for Christmas.

Can You Name All Of Santa’s Reindeer?

Nope… Rudolph, Vixen, Blitzen, Dasher, Dancer, Comet and Cupid. I looked it up and I only missed two!

What Christmas Traditions Are You Looking Forward To This Year?

Today I will be going to my Grandmas for a small gathering. We have brunch, open presents and stockings. It’s a fun time and very relaxed. On Christmas Eve we normally just stay home but this year we had people over. That might be a new tradition!

Is Your Christmas Tree Real Or Fake?

Ours is real. It’s the biggest one we’ve gotten. I’ve never had a fake tree but  I know people who always have one.

Be Honest, Do You Like Giving Or Receiving Gifts Better?

I enjoy both but it’s satisfying to buy a gift for someone and see their reaction to it.

What’s The Best Christmas Gift You Ever Received?

I honestly have no idea. I can’t remember most of the gifts I received. That doesn’t mean they weren’t amazing, I just can’t remember small specific things like that.

What’s Your Dream Place To Visit For The Holiday Season?

Disneyland, London, New York and Hogwarts. A wide variety of course 🙂

Are You A Pro Present Wrapper Or Do You Fail Miserably?

I consider myself not too bad but other people’s skills blow me away. For the very few gifts I bought, I decided to just use gift bags this year.

Most Memorable Christmas Moment?

My first Christmas was probably pretty memorable. Every Christmas is memorable for me in its own way.

What Made You Realize The Truth About Santa?

Truth? What truth? I’m just kidding. My parents kept it going for a very long time. The kids at school ruined it for me. I was in denial until a few years ago. I’m still a teenager so that was when I was a child.

What Makes The  Holidays Special For You?

Spending time with family! There’s some family that I don’t get to see much so the holidays are the only time I can do that.

I tag anyone who needs a last-minute post! Since it’s Christmas today, nobody will be doing this anymore. Merry Christmas, and if you don’t celebrate, Happy Holidays!

Thanks for reading and stay tuned for more tags!
