10 Things I Like About Harry Potter: Name 10 things you like about any of the books in the series. You’re not limited to a particular book. You can choose whatever you want from any book. It’s completely up to you. This category is wide open, but here’s a few ideas: favorite characters, spells, magical items, plot twists, villains, etc. You can do whatever you want with this.

I have decided to do Ten Favorite Characters.

World Book Day is in a couple of days! Choose one of your all-time favorite books.

Being a devoted bookworm, I have countless favorite books. For this theme I have decided to do Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl. It’s a classic by one of my favorite children’s authors!

Book Traveling Thursdays

Original Cover/Cover from My Country (US):

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (Charlie Bucket, #1)English

This is the book I read. I am not 100% sure what the original one is.

Favorite Cover(s):

La fabbrica di cioccolatoItalian

Sjakie en de chocoladefabriekDutch

Charlie Und Die SchokoladenfabrikGerman

Sjakie en de ChocoladefabriekDutch (Apparently they have different editions)

تشارلي ومصنع الشوكولاته (Charlie Bucket, #1)Arabic

My favorite has to be the one I read. It’s so colorful and cheerful.

Least Favorite(s):

چارلی و کارخانه‌ی شکلات‌سازیPersian

چارلی و کارخانهء شکلات‌سازیPersian

Çarli'nin Çikolata FabrikasıTurkish

Charlie and the Chocolate FactoryEnglish (Penguin Classics)

La fabbrica di cioccolato (Charlie Bucket, #1)Italian

I have two least favorites on here. The worst is the Penguin Classic. What does a creepy girl have to do with Charlie and the Chocolate Factory?!The last is the Italian cover above. It doesn’t have much to do with the book.

That’s a wrap! This week definitely had lots of diversity.

What were your favorite and least favorite covers? Let me know in the comments!

Thanks for reading and stay tuned for next week’s Book Traveling Thursday!

Creative Challenges: Haunted by Pirates

It’s time for  more Creative Challenges! If you are unfamiliar with this event, here’s the gist: Creative Challenges is a twice weekly event that is hosted by Cynthia Dawn. One challenge is for everyone and the other is for her email subscribers only. She emails you a prompt and all you do is write a story based on a personal experience or like I do, using a fictional character.

My Story:

Harper Willis has quite a strange secret. He’s only in 1st grade and he’s haunted by pirates. He’s the only one that knows. His sister Savanna and brother Max are clueless. If he told his mom Alice and his dad Fredrick, they would think that he’s crazy. It all started one day when he was surfing the web. Harper’s not normally aloud to do that but when his sister Savanna is babysitting, anything goes. He was watching a video about elephants, his favorite animal, when a strange video popped up. Screams erupted from the computer into his headphones and he felt shivers run down his spine. A burly man with along hair and many scars popped up before him and he resisted the urge to scream. His palms were sweating waterfalls. The pirate captain who preferred to be called Scar told him that he better watch his back. One wrong move and..     more screams erupted into Harper’s ears. Tears were running down his cheeks by that time and he was shaking like nothing else. Scar let out a loud evil laugh and smashed something on the ground. It shattered and then the screen went blank. Harper ran up to his room and hid under his covers until he stopped shaking. Every once in a while late at night, Harper can hear that same loud evil laugh seemingly close by. He hides under his covers, for he knows that Scar and his crew are watching him.
