Top 5 Wednesday (#3)|Polarizing Books

Hey everyone! It’s time for Top 5 Wednesday! Let me know whether or not you’re enjoying this weekly meme! Top 5 Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by gingerreadslainey and Sam @ Thoughts On Tomes. Both of these lovely ladies have video blogs on YouTube. It’s definitely worth checking out! To find out more information, future topics and more, go visit the meme’s Goodreads group here. This week’s topic is:

These are books that people either tend to love or hate, with no in between. Pick some of your favorites that fall into this category.

Top 5 Polarizing Books:

1. The Harry Potter series by JK Rowling

Image result for harry potter series

With this series, either you’re a Potterhead or not. To me, there’s no “partial fans”

2. The Fault In Our Stars By John Green

The Fault in Our Stars

Either you’re against the “romanticized and repetitive cancer theme” or you’re in love with Hazel and Gus’s tear jerking romance.

3. Paper Towns by John Green

Paper Towns

Some think the story is boring. Others get drawn into the adventure. To me, there’s no in between.

4. Fans Of The Impossible Life by Kate Scelsa

Fans of the Impossible Life

Some are drawn into the crazy friendship. Others are thrown off by the inappropriate and strange themes. My recent review/rant will tell you where I stand on this.

5. Twilight by Stephenie Meyer

Twilight (Twilight, #1)

I’m cheating the topic a bit by putting this book. I actually haven’t read it. Twilight came to mind anyway when I read this week’s topic. It’s definitely a book that you either deeply hate or a few enjoy. There’s no in between!

That’s a wrap! Do you agree with my picks? What books would be/are on your list?

Thanks for reading and stay tuned for more T5W!

2016 Accomplishments (Blog and Personal)

  • I posted 175 posts. That’s actually way more than I thought I did.
  • I reached 200 followers and am almost at 300.
  • Elizabeth Dahl, an author, found my blog and  gave me a Twitter shout out!!
  • I started High School
  • I read so many books that I lost track and failed my Goodreads challenge.
  • I made so many amazing blogging friends and friends in real life.
  • I finally got a Snapchat! (It’s my only social media okay?)

There was so much more that happened. These are just a few highlights.

Thank you guys so much for a fantastic 2016. My blog Random Reads grew so much. I learned and changed a lot. My blog content and style has changed too. Though most say stats don’t matter, mine have been wayyy down. I’m not too worried. I just hope people know that I am back and haven’t given up. Happy New Year once again. I hope everyone has a fantastic 2017. No matter what happens, 2016 is in the past now. That’s something we can be happy about.

Library Book Haul (#4)

Hey everyone! It’s Monday and that means another library book haul! I apologize for not blogging daily the last few days. I guess I’m not good at keeping a streak. I also apologize for the late post. Enough with my excuses. As you can tell by the title, a library book haul is a haul where I show off my library books. This time I have 5 books to show off!

*All Book Titles will be linked to their Goodreads page.*

  1. As Brave as You by Jason Reynolds

As Brave As YouGoodreads

I don’t know if I’ll read this book. I started it but put it down due to the number of times the word “poop” was mentioned. I might give it another shot. It sounds interesting. Just doesn’t have the best beginning.

2. Mistress Pat by L.M. Montgomery

Mistress Pat (Pat, #2)Goodreads (Not the edition I got)

This is another series written by the author of the Anne Shirley series that I have begun to read. The library was out of all of the Anne books except the sixth one. I noticed Montgomery had more books and decided to get them. This is a sequel to Pat of Silver Bush that I am reading now.

3. Ethan, Suspended by Pamela Ehrenberg

Ethan, SuspendedGoodreads

The summary sounded interesting and it will be a nice short read. It doesn’t have the best Goodreads rating but I’ll have to see if I enjoy it or not.

4. The Book Thief by Mark Zusak

The Book Thief

I’m finally going to read The Book Thief! I’ve been going back and forth about reading this and now I finally will. This will be the only book I’ll be doing a review for so stay tuned for that!

5. Pat of Silver Bush by L.M Montgomery

Pat of Silver Bush (Pat, #1)Goodreads (Not the edition I got)

This is book one of what seems to be only a two book series. I am reading this right now and enjoy it a lot. I jumped at the chance of reading more of Montgomery’s books since I am joying the Anne Shirley series so far. So far, I’m not disappointed.

That’s a wrap! Have you read any of these books? What did you think? Let me know! This book haul consisted of one YA and four tween books.

Thanks for reading and stay tuned for more Library Book Hauls!!

Library Book Haul (#2)

Hey everyone! This was such a hit that it’s back for another post. These will typically be on Sundays/Mondays and will not be every single week. These posts are to show off what I’ve gotten at the library and what I might be reviewing in the future. Without further ado, here we go!

The white mark was editing. There is a little label for something that’s just for our state. I didn’t want to show it.

*Book Titles linked to Goodreads*

  1. I’ll Give You The Sun by Jandy Nelson

I'll Give You the Sun

I have heard that this is a good book and am excited to read it. I will definitely be reviewing this as soon as I read it.

2. Rules for Stealing Stars by Corey Ann Haydu

Rules for Stealing Stars

This seemed like a good book. I’m a tiny bit unsure about it. I won’t be doing a review on it unless it’s specifically asked for. It’s a Young Teen/Tween book that you guys don’t really seem to enjoy as much as the YA books.

That’s a wrap! Do either of these books appeal to you? Let me know!

This Library Haul consisted of one YA book and one Tween book.

Thanks for reading and stay tuned for more Library Book Hauls!
