Library Book Haul (#5)

Hey everyone! Today is Sunday and it’s time for another Library Book Haul! I apologize for this one being so late/early. I wanted to get it out today. Today’s haul consists of  4 unread books and one summer reading prize. Without further ado, let’s get started!!

FullSizeRender (3)

*ALL BOOK TITLES ARE LINKED TO THE BOOK’S GOODREADS PAGE :)*

1.Sweet Home Alaska by Carole Estby Dagg -Tween

Sweet Home Alaska

This book sounded so interesting! It’s set in first Wisconsin then Alaska in 1934; during The Great Depression. You’ll hear about it in a WWW Wednesday or two but I won’t be doing a review.

2.Emily of New Moon by L.M. Montgomery-Tween

Emily of New Moon (Emily, #1)(Not the edition I got)

Another small series by L.M. Montgomery. I love her writing style and characters so much. Now I’m determined to get through all the books she’s written. Just like all Tween books, I won’t be doing an official review.

3. Treasure Hunters #4: Peril At The Top Of The World by James Patterson-Tween

(Goodreads has no cover picture; this is from the B&N site)

I love this series so much! It’s mainly graphic novels but the characters go on such amazing adventures. Won’t be reviewed unless requested, same with all Tween books.

4.I Am The Messenger by Markus Zusak-Young Adult

I Am the Messenger

I loved The Book Thief (review scheduled for Friday) so much that I decided to read more by Zusak. It sounds interesting so I hope it’ll be at least almost as good as The Book Thief. This is the only book that will definitely have a review. The rest can have one with enough requests.

5. The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins-Summer Reading Prize/Young Adult

The Hunger Games (The Hunger Games, #1)

As I normally do, I entered the summer reading program at the local library. I read 1,o00 minutes (and more) and turned in my log. I didn’t know I got a  free book but was excited to pick one. I ended up picking a classic: The Hunger Games. I don’t own the other two books so I’ll have to get my hands on those 😀

That’s a wrap! Are any of these books interesting to you? Let me know!

This haul consisted of 3 Tween and 2 Young Adult/Teen books.

Thanks for reading and stay tuned for more Library Book Hauls.

Top Ten Tuesday| A Learning Experience

Hey everyone! I’m back! After not blogging for 5 or so days, I hope to give you some great blog posts. Today is Tuesday and that means it’s time for another Top Ten Tuesday. This weekly meme is hosted by the amazing people at The Broke and the Bookish. Go check them out for all things book related. This week’s topic is:

Top Ten Things Books Have Made Me Want To Do or Learn About After Reading Them (inspired by my post wayyy back in 2012 that I did on a TTT freebie week and have so wanting to revisit. *hides because of the hideous graphics…I was just learning*)

Let’s get started!

Top Ten Books That Made Me Want To Learn or Do:

  1. The Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling

credit to viara13

I know I’ve mentioned this series countless times. Reading this series made me want to go visit Hogwarts and then The Wizarding World of Harry Potter.

2. The Fault in Our Stars by John Green

Pinterest

This book has also been mentioned a lot. This book made me want to travel to Amsterdam. In the book it looks so beautiful!!

3. The Book Thief by Mark Zusak (REVIEW COMING SOON!!)

credit to artist mittenbunny

I just finished this late last night. It was such an amazing book. The ending was absolutely heartbreaking though. A full review will be out soon. Reading this made me want to learn about World War I since I haven’t learned about it yet.

4. Genie Wishes by Elizabeth Dahl

This is one book that I’ve actually done what I wanted to do. Like I’ve said several times, over the last one year and one month, this book really inspired me to start blogging. If I hadn’t read that book, I wouldn’t be sitting here typing this. This book is basically about a girl named Genie. She gets appointed as the classroom blogger at school. At first she doesn’t enjoy it but then it becomes her passion.

5.The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton

Pinterest

This is a book that was a school assigned read. I’m one of the few who seems to actually enjoy the school assigned books. If you haven’t read the Outsiders, I absolutely recommend it. It’s basically about two groups who are always at odds. It’s also about much more than that. This book made me want to treat people better and not let a first impression decide on if I’ll at least respect them or not.

6.Dumplin’ by Julie Murphey

I recommend this book! It’s a book about an overweight girl who’s not afraid to wear a bikini. She has some interesting relationship(s) and does something that most like her wouldn’t dare to do. This book didn’t really make me want to learn or do anything. It just made me realize how much fat shaming can really hurt someone. I’ve always known that it did but this made me see at what level.

On that note, that’s a wrap! I only managed to get 6/10 but that’s still pretty good. What books did/would you pick for this topic? Let me know!

Thanks for reading and stay tuned for next week’s Top Ten Tuesday!

Library Book Haul (#4)

Hey everyone! It’s Monday and that means another library book haul! I apologize for not blogging daily the last few days. I guess I’m not good at keeping a streak. I also apologize for the late post. Enough with my excuses. As you can tell by the title, a library book haul is a haul where I show off my library books. This time I have 5 books to show off!

FullSizeRender (1)

*All Book Titles will be linked to their Goodreads page.*

  1. As Brave as You by Jason Reynolds

As Brave As YouGoodreads

I don’t know if I’ll read this book. I started it but put it down due to the number of times the word “poop” was mentioned. I might give it another shot. It sounds interesting. Just doesn’t have the best beginning.

2. Mistress Pat by L.M. Montgomery

Mistress Pat (Pat, #2)Goodreads (Not the edition I got)

This is another series written by the author of the Anne Shirley series that I have begun to read. The library was out of all of the Anne books except the sixth one. I noticed Montgomery had more books and decided to get them. This is a sequel to Pat of Silver Bush that I am reading now.

3. Ethan, Suspended by Pamela Ehrenberg

Ethan, SuspendedGoodreads

The summary sounded interesting and it will be a nice short read. It doesn’t have the best Goodreads rating but I’ll have to see if I enjoy it or not.

4. The Book Thief by Mark Zusak

The Book Thief

I’m finally going to read The Book Thief! I’ve been going back and forth about reading this and now I finally will. This will be the only book I’ll be doing a review for so stay tuned for that!

5. Pat of Silver Bush by L.M Montgomery

Pat of Silver Bush (Pat, #1)Goodreads (Not the edition I got)

This is book one of what seems to be only a two book series. I am reading this right now and enjoy it a lot. I jumped at the chance of reading more of Montgomery’s books since I am joying the Anne Shirley series so far. So far, I’m not disappointed.

That’s a wrap! Have you read any of these books? What did you think? Let me know! This book haul consisted of one YA and four tween books.

Thanks for reading and stay tuned for more Library Book Hauls!!

WWW Wednesday (#25)

Hey everyone! It’s Wednesday and that means it’s time for WWW Wednesday! This weekly meme is currently hosted by the fantastic Sam. To participate in this meme, all you have to do is answer three questions:

What did you recently read?

What are you currently reading?

What are you going to read?

Recently Read:

This was a quick but good book. Not my favorite but still an enjoyable read.

When this goes up, I will have finished this book. It was a brilliant read. I loved it so much. I didn’t realize it was a old book until I noticed how all the girls wear dresses. The language is different. Religion is a bigger deal. The author died in 1942… Still a great book!

Currently Reading:

I would’ve started this by now. I got the first and third book of this series instead of the first and second. I’ll have to read the series out of order which I don’t like doing. Oh well!

I’m going to read through the rest of the Anne Shirley series. I love it so much! I probably won’t read it all in a row but this will be what I’ll be slowly tackling.

I want to eventually read this book. I know most have already read it. As always, I’m behind 😀

I don’t know what else I’ll read!

Top Ten Books We Enjoyed That Have Under 2000 Ratings On Goodreads (we’ve done underrated books a bunch of times in the past 6 years but thanks to Lenore at Celebrity Readers for suggesting this topic as a new way to talk about underrated books especially when underrated is subjective. An easy way to find this — go to Goodreads, your read list, at the top of your read list where it says settings you can add a column for # of ratings, then you can sort by that. If you aren’t a Goodreads user you can look up books you think are underrated and see what their # of reviews is on Goodreads? Or if that’s too hard you can spin it some other way!
