The Sunshine Blogger Award #3

Hey everyone! Recently I was tagged by Lauren @ Comma Hangover to do the Sunshine Blogger Award. Go check her out for memes, tags, reading challenges, book reviews and more! I did this twice in August of 2015. I thought it was time to do another one. Plus I’ve definitely changed a lot in a couple short years.

Rules

  • Thank the person who nominated you and link back to their blog
  • List the rules and display the Sunshine Blogger Award logo in your post or blog
  • Answer the eleven questions sent by the person who nominated you
  • Nominate eleven new blogs to receive the award and write them eleven newaward31Let’s get started!

    1. Is there a character name from your favorite book that you would consider giving to your future child, pet, or another living thing?

Right now, my favorite book is The Upside of Unrequited by Becky Albertalli. Hopefully I’ll get around to reviewing it. If not, I honestly was in love with the characters from page one and I would definitely recommend it. Anyway, the main character is named Molly. I would definitely name either a child or a pet Molly. It’s a perfect and simple name.

Image result for the upside of unrequited fan

2. If you could pick three books that will be stocked in every library in the world, which books would they be and why?

Only three books? This is a tough one. I’m going to say:

  1. The Upside of Unrequited by Becky Albertalli because it touches on topics like same-sex marriage, weight and tough topics like sex.
  2. To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee because it is a classic that teaches lots of good lessons and is a good read in general.
  3. The Sun is Also A Star by Nicola Yoon because it is an incredible book that talks about race, fate and is a book that I could read several times without getting bored.

Image result for book quotes too many books

3. You’re heading to the beach for the day, what’s in your bag?

Honestly if it’s for the day I probably don’t bring a bag. I always have flip-flops, my iPhone and a beach towel so I guess that’s what I’ll say.

Image result for beach

4. If you could jump into one book, what would it be and why? Would you attempt to change the plot?

Dang.. these questions with choosing books really get me! I’m going to be basic and say Harry Potter and The Sorcerers Stone by JK Rowling because I’d love to see Hogwarts and all the amazing people within it. Would I change the plot? Of course not!

Image result for hogwarts

5. What TV series is currently on the top of your “to watch” list?

To be honest, I don’t really have a “to watch” list. I really need to get into some new TV series. Recommend some for me to watch and those will definitely go on my list!

Image result for tv shows

6. You’re packing for a dream vacation. Where are you going and what is in your bag? (Books? Makeup? Favorite items of clothing?)

I’d definitely go to London. That’s one of the places that’s on my so-called “bucket list.” I would bring lots of T-Shirts, jeans, sweatshirts, maybe a book or two, money… basically normal things I wear and use frequently.

Image result for london

7. What is your favorite movie, and is there a scene you would recreate from it if given he chance?

One of my favorite movies is definitely Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them. I honestly loved the whole movie but I’d love to recreate the scene with all the creatures.

Image result for fantastic beasts and where to find them fanart

8. Do you like to cook? What is the last recipe you made or looked up?

I like the idea of cooking but I don’t really cook. I always look of recipes for macaroni and cheese. Even as a teenager, that’s still one of my favorite meals.

Image result for macaroni and cheese

9. You get to time travel back to any event in history. What would it be and why?

I’m quite fascinated by history. I would like to time travel back to the assassination of JFK. Not because I thought it was justified but because I’d want to experience the mood and feelings in the air. It was a traumatic and historic event that would be incredible and terrible to witness.

Image result for jfk assassination

10. Do you prefer books with one POV or multiple POVs?

I like both multiple and one POV but I normally read books with one POV. I feel like I get into the story more and can connect with the character easier.

11. What talent do you have that often goes unappreciated?

I guess my talent for creativity or listening normally goes unappreciated.

The Book Life Tag!

Hey everyone! Let’s celebrate the return of my book blog posts with a bookish tag! I randomly found this on Books & Other Pursuits. They did this tag in April so it was a while ago but that’s okay. They’re not the creator of this so I can’t give them complete credit though. The point of this tag is to answer questions with places or characters from books. It’s pretty short and simple. Let’s get started!

Who Would Your Parents Be?

This is a pretty basic answer but I’m going to say Molly and Arthur Weasley. They seem like they would be the best parents in the world (besides my own of course). Plus they’re gingers like me so that’s a plus.

Image result for molly weasley and arthur

Who Would Be Your Sister?

Definitely Blue Sargent from the Raven Cycle series by Maggie Stiefvater. I just finished the fourth book The Raven King and I loved it! I’m absolutely in love with the series. Blue would definitely have to be my sister because she’s like me because she’s more of a follower. She’s also just a great person overall.

Image result for raven cycle series blue fanart

Who Would Be Your Brother?

Levi from Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell definitely. He would be such a kind and humorous brother. He also works at Starbucks which of course would have its benefits.

Image result for levi fangirl fan art

Who Would Be Your Pet?

This is going to be so repetitive but I’m going to say Chainsaw from the Raven Cycle series. He is such a loyal raven to Ronan and would definitely be there no matter what.

Image result for chainsaw raven cycle

Where Would You Live?

Green Gables from the Anne of Green Gables series by L.M. Montgomery. The land is filled with so many trees and lots of places to roam. The actual house would be a wonderful place to explore and relax in.

Image result for green gables house L.M. Montgomery

This is the house that was owned by relatives of Montgomery. It’s the Green Gables house that the house in the Anne series is apparently based off of.

Where Would You Go To School?

Hogwarts from the Harry Potter series of course!

Image result for hogwarts

Who Would Be Your Best Friend?

Liesel from the Book Thief by Markus Zusak. She’s just as into books as I am, she’s a badass and doesn’t always follow the rules. Liesel would be a great friend.

Image result for liesel book thief

Who Would Be Your Significant Other? *SPOILER?*

This is a tough one.. I’m going to say Gus from The Fault in Our Stars by John Green. Even though he dies (this shouldn’t be a spoiler but just in case…) he would be a fantastic boyfriend. He’s such a sweet guy and good-looking too!

Image result for gus fault in our stars

I tag anyone who wants to participate!

That’s a wrap! Do you agree or disagree with my choices? Let me know!

Thanks for reading and stay tuned for more book tags!

Book Traveling Thursday (#41)|Yellow

Hey everyone! It’s been months since I’ve posted. I guess this blog got pushed to the back burner. As a side note, on June 23rd, it was my blog’s 2 year anniversary. That’s definitely something to celebrate. Today I’m jumping back in with a Book Traveling Thursday! This wonderful weekly meme is hosted by Cátia @ The Girl Who Read Too Much. To find out more information, future themes and more, go to the meme’s Goodreads group here. Go check her out for a constant book blog. This week’s theme is:

Choose a book that has originally a yellow cover.

This should’ve been simple and straight forward but sadly it wasn’t. I finally settled on a book that I haven’t even read. That book is The Beginning of Everything by Robyn Schneider.

Original Cover/Cover From My Country:

The Beginning of Everything

Favorite Cover(s):

Cœurs brisés, tête coupéesFrench

This book has two titles, the second one being Severed Heads, Broken Hearts. That’s what this apparently translates to.

The Beginning of Everything - Awal SegalanyaIndonesian

Początek wszystkiegoPolish

Least Favorite Cover(s):

NONE 😀

That’s a wrap! I love the covers for this book! What is your favorite cover? Let me know!

Book And Tea Tag!

Hey everyone! I’m back with a tag. I saw this on @A Dance With Books. I wasn’t tagged but I loved the concept. I personally haven’t had much tea or coffee so I don’t relate to it in that way. Let’s get started!

Earl Gray  -> A Classic:

Until recently I would’ve said that I didn’t have an answer for this. Recently in High School we read To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee. I can definitely understand why it’s considered a classic. Thank goodness for required reading 😀

Image result for to kill a mockingbird quotes

Chai Tea -> A Book That Takes Place In Another Country

Another book we read this year was Night By Elie Wiesel. It’s an Autobiography with some fiction thrown in. The book takes place in Poland, Germany, and Romania. It’s a first hand account of Wiesel’s experience during the Holocaust. I definitely recommend this if you’re into historic books and eye-opening experiences.

Image result for night by elie

Green Tea -> A Light Book

This book always ends up in my tag posts. The book is Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell. This is definitely a light and romantic book. If you haven’t read it, where have you been?!

Image result for fangirl rainbow rowell quotes

Mint Tea -> A Book With A Refreshing Twist

I always enjoy a good plot twist! The Raven Cycle Series by Maggie Stiefvater are always full of twists and turns. I’m not sure why it has some bad reviews on Goodreads. I’ve really enjoyed the series so far!

Image result for raven cycle quotes

Chamomile Tea  -> A Book That Calms You Down

A Blind Guide To Normal by Beth Vrabel was a calm book. There wasn’t too many major plot twists but it was still an enjoyable read. It’s meant for a younger audience but I still recommend it!

Image result

Cookie  -> A Novella Or Another Addition To A Book

I don’t really know if this counts but I really enjoyed Drama, Smile and Sisters all by Raina Telgemeier. The storyline and illustrations are very enjoyable and incredible.

Image result for raina telgemeier books

Sugar -> Very Cutesy Feel Good Read

To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han was definitely a feel good read. There was conflict and drama but it wasn’t over the top or stressful to read.

To All the Boys I've Loved Before (To All the Boys I've Loved Before, #1)

Milk -> A Book Others Disliked But You Enjoyed

The Raven Cycle series would’ve been a perfect answer for this one. I’m going to have to say Paper Towns by John Green. It seems like it was a book that people had some issues with. I personally enjoyed it.

Image result

Coziness/Sociability -> Three Characters You’d Invite To Your High Tea

Noah from the Raven Cycle series, Theodore Finch from All The Bright Places by Jennifer Niven and Scout from To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee. This would be a crazy tea time!

Your Favorite Tea And Fitting Book

This is the only question I can’t answer since I don’t drink tea.

Image result for tea puns

I Tag:

Anyone who enjoys a good cup of tea and a book!

That’s a wrap! I really enjoyed doing this tag even though I’m not a tea drinker.

Thanks for reading and stay tuned for more tags!

None Of The Above| Book Review

Hey everyone! I apologize for being so inactive lately. I’ll try to get into a solid schedule but there’s no guarantees. Yesterday I finished an incredible book called None Of The Above by I.W. Gregorio.

“Love isn’t a choice. You fall for the person, not their chromosomes.”

None of the Above

Genre: Young Adult

# of pages: 352

My Rating: 4.5/5 stars

Author: I.W. Gregorio

Release Date: April 7th, 2015

Summary:

When Kristin Lattimer is voted homecoming queen, it seems like another piece of her ideal life has fallen into place. She’s a champion hurdler with a full scholarship to college and she’s madly in love with her boyfriend. In fact, she’s decided that she’s ready to take things to the next level with him.

But Kristin’s first time isn’t the perfect moment she’s planned—something is very wrong. A visit to the doctor reveals the truth: Kristin is intersex, which means that though she outwardly looks like a girl, she has male chromosomes, not to mention boy “parts.”

Dealing with her body is difficult enough, but when her diagnosis is leaked to the whole school, Kristin’s entire identity is thrown into question. As her world unravels, can she come to terms with her new self?

None of The Above is an incredible book! It’s the first book I’ve read that has an intersex main character. The author did a brilliant job with detail. Each character seemed so real. Kristen has had a crappy life but her friends are really what keeps her grounded. I can’t imagine what it would be like to have a huge secret like that leaked. Not only is there a unique view on sexuality, there’s love, betrayal, forgiveness and so much more. I loved this book so much. It’s definitely worth the read. I wish there was a sequel. There’s some things that definitely feel unfinished. I.W. Gregorio definitely needs to write more books!

“The biggest difference between boy and girls is how people treat them”

That’s a wrap! Have you read this book? What are your thoughts? Let me know!

Thanks for reading and stay tuned for more book reviews!
