Book Traveling Thursday (#41)|Yellow

Hey everyone! It’s been months since I’ve posted. I guess this blog got pushed to the back burner. As a side note, on June 23rd, it was my blog’s 2 year anniversary. That’s definitely something to celebrate. Today I’m jumping back in with a Book Traveling Thursday! This wonderful weekly meme is hosted by Cátia @ The Girl Who Read Too Much. To find out more information, future themes and more, go to the meme’s Goodreads group here. Go check her out for a constant book blog. This week’s theme is:

Choose a book that has originally a yellow cover.

This should’ve been simple and straight forward but sadly it wasn’t. I finally settled on a book that I haven’t even read. That book is The Beginning of Everything by Robyn Schneider.

Original Cover/Cover From My Country:

The Beginning of Everything

Favorite Cover(s):

Cœurs brisés, tête coupéesFrench

This book has two titles, the second one being Severed Heads, Broken Hearts. That’s what this apparently translates to.

The Beginning of Everything - Awal SegalanyaIndonesian

Początek wszystkiegoPolish

Least Favorite Cover(s):

NONE 😀

That’s a wrap! I love the covers for this book! What is your favorite cover? Let me know!

Thanks for reading and stay tuned for more blog posts!

Where Have I Been?

Hey everyone! This is just a post to check in and tell you what’s going on. I deeply apologize for not blogging much for the past several months. I have been very busy with school, family and figuring some things out. Hopefully I can find a solid schedule as soon as possible. I miss blogging so much and hope you guys haven’t forgotten about me!

See you soon!

Miranda Sings Tag!

Hey everyone! After a month of being MIA, I’m back! I’ve missed blogging and hope you guys will still want to read and enjoy my posts!

Today I am doing the “Miranda Sings Tag.” I was tagged by Amber @ Only True Magic. Go check her incredibly creative blog out!

Rules:

  • Announce your win with a post and link the blogger who nominated you.
  • Nominate 10 bloggers (or as many as you can think of) and link your awardees in the post.
  • List 7 things you love about yourself (This can be about your appearance, your personality, your achievements, etc.)
  • Don’t use negative connotation. (I.e. Don’t say things like – I’m prettier than an average person or People have told me I’m smart. You ARE pretty. You ARE smart.)

This is a simple but amazing tag!

What I Love About Me:

  1. My hair!

I’m a ginger and love my hair color so much. Even though it’s wild and crazy, I still love it!

Image result for brownish red hair(This isn’t what my hair color is.)

2. My Weirdness

Most people are afraid to be weird. I embrace it. It’s part of who I am. If anyone insults me for being my self, they’re not worth being around.

3. My Love For Books

I love something that I love 🙂 My love for books as been abundant since I was in elementary school. I love how devoted I’ve been to books and how any teasing can’t stop my obsession.

4. My Ability to Overcome Obstacles.

Just like everyone’s, my life has had its ups and downs. I love how I’ve been able to get back up and keep going. If I couldn’t get back up, my life would be entirely different.

5. My Will To Learn

I’m still in school. Most bloggers are juggling work or a family. I’m juggling homework and school. My will to learn has always been strong. I don’t enjoy every subject. If I can find one I enjoy, I put everything I’ve got into it. I love how there’s never too much knowledge I can consume.

6. My Small Hands

I have smaller hands than most people. I love that they make me unique. My small hands make me who I am.

 7. My Glasses

I love them because they help me see! That may seem cheesy but I have terrible eye sight for my age. I’m only a teenager but have eye sight equal to an elderly man/women. Without my glasses, the world would be a blurry place.

Library Book Haul (#4)

Hey everyone! It’s Monday and that means another library book haul! I apologize for not blogging daily the last few days. I guess I’m not good at keeping a streak. I also apologize for the late post. Enough with my excuses. As you can tell by the title, a library book haul is a haul where I show off my library books. This time I have 5 books to show off!

FullSizeRender (1)

*All Book Titles will be linked to their Goodreads page.*

  1. As Brave as You by Jason Reynolds

As Brave As YouGoodreads

I don’t know if I’ll read this book. I started it but put it down due to the number of times the word “poop” was mentioned. I might give it another shot. It sounds interesting. Just doesn’t have the best beginning.

2. Mistress Pat by L.M. Montgomery

Mistress Pat (Pat, #2)Goodreads (Not the edition I got)

This is another series written by the author of the Anne Shirley series that I have begun to read. The library was out of all of the Anne books except the sixth one. I noticed Montgomery had more books and decided to get them. This is a sequel to Pat of Silver Bush that I am reading now.

3. Ethan, Suspended by Pamela Ehrenberg

Ethan, SuspendedGoodreads

The summary sounded interesting and it will be a nice short read. It doesn’t have the best Goodreads rating but I’ll have to see if I enjoy it or not.

4. The Book Thief by Mark Zusak

The Book Thief

I’m finally going to read The Book Thief! I’ve been going back and forth about reading this and now I finally will. This will be the only book I’ll be doing a review for so stay tuned for that!

5. Pat of Silver Bush by L.M Montgomery

Pat of Silver Bush (Pat, #1)Goodreads (Not the edition I got)

This is book one of what seems to be only a two book series. I am reading this right now and enjoy it a lot. I jumped at the chance of reading more of Montgomery’s books since I am joying the Anne Shirley series so far. So far, I’m not disappointed.

That’s a wrap! Have you read any of these books? What did you think? Let me know! This book haul consisted of one YA and four tween books.

Thanks for reading and stay tuned for more Library Book Hauls!!

How Did It All Start?

It was June 23rd, 2015 and I had just finished reading a book called Genie Wishes by Elizabeth Dahl. It’s about a girl who is appointed as the class blogger. She blogs around a theme and what’s going on. It was a great book. For some reason, it really motivated me to start a blog of my own. I had always loved reading, writing and books so that’s what my blog ended up being about. If you were here at the beginning, you probably remember that Random Reads wasn’t the original name. Just like the URL, it was readersandmore. I later realized that that name didn’t suit the blog. It was too simple. That’s how Random Reads got started.

What Are Five Things I’ve Learned?

I’ve definitely learned more than five things in this last year. These will be the five most important things.

  1. Don’t feel like you have to blog everyday.

At first, I felt like I had to blog every single day. If I didn’t my followers wouldn’t like me and then I wouldn’t gain followers. Those were my thoughts at first. Now I know that that’s not true. True followers and fans of your blog will stick around. Whether you have a schedule, randomly post, or rarely post, the true followers will stay. Even if you go on a hiatus for a lengthy amount of time, don’t feel ashamed or worried. Blog as much as you want.

2. Don’t blog if it feels like work.

If blogging ever feels like work to you, take a step back. Do you need a bit of a break? New content or ideas? Is this just not what you want to do? Ask your self those questions. Blogging should be a fun thing. Whether it’s a huge part of your life or not, don’t let blogging become a stressful chore.

3. Communicate with bloggers!

This is a huge thing that has really made my blogging experience. Interact with bloggers around you on WordPress. Find people who have the same interests as you. I have so many amazing book blogging friends who have made me smile and made me inspired. If you don’t communicate, you won’t learn new things and make new friends.

4. Stats Don’t Matter

Yes, I still look at stats pretty frequently. In reality, stats don’t matter. It doesn’t matter how many views you got that day. It doesn’t matter how many visitors you got. All that matters is that you enjoy what your doing. If you can look at the stats and feel motivated to continue and become better, go right ahead.

5. Scheduling is your friend!

Going away on vacation? Busy the next day? The scheduling option will save your life. I’ve learned that this option can seriously save you. All you have to do is sit down and crank out posts. It will save you the stress of wondering when you will have time to blog.

What’s Next?

Since I’ve reached 1 year of blogging, I’m obviously going to look ahead.

– I’m not quitting anytime soon 🙂

-More book reviews

-I will continue to do memes (ex. Top Ten Tuesday)

-More amazing things!

-Reaching 200 WordPress followers

-Reaching 1,000 followers!!

-2 years of blogging

-So much more!!

I know I’ve said it so many times but thank you for following me. Your love and support is what really keeps me going. I love you guys 😀 I hope this post wasn’t too long. I wanted to keep it as short and sweet as possible. On a side note, I REACHED 200 FOLLOWERS!! Well, including email followers. WordPress doesn’t seem to count that though. When I officially reach 200 though, I will be doing a Q&A. You can find the post here. Don’t forget to drop me any questions you want me to answer. I don’t have many yet and want a nice big post to celebrate the milestone.

Thanks for reading and stay tuned for more to come on Random Reads!

About the Author: Harper Lee

Hey everyone! I’ve been running out of post ideas once again. This is a new idea that may or may not work. I thought that once a week or so I could do an About the Author. It can have a specific day if you guys want or it can just be whenever. These posts will/would be the personal side of an author. This week, I have decided to do Harper Lee has the “test” author. Get In The Know: April 2016 Edition

Hey everyone!! It’s the beginning of May and that means it’s time for another Get In The Know. I haven’t done one of these in absolutely forever. I always procrastinate and end up being too late. This month is a different story. If you have joined my blog since the last one of these here’s a quick run down. This post normally happens once a month the last couple of weeks or so of the month. Personal:

-This month we started doing three hours of testing for 4 weeks at school. At this point we are only halfway thru 😦

-I’ve been looking forward to summer. I’m also not too. I’m moving on to the next school and some of my friends will be going to different schools. I’m hoping we can still stay in touch.

-I started reading Eleanor and Park recently!! I love it so much and can’t wait to review it when I’m finished.

Overall April was filled with lots of reading, testing and not much drama.

Sorry this was late! I hope you guys had a great April and will have a great May. If you’re in school, keep powering through. It’s almost over and you’ll be on break. If you aren’t in school anymore, don’t let anything bring you down.

Thanks for reading  and stay tuned for this month’s Get In The Know!

Hello From The Other Side (Updates)

Hey everyone!! It feels like I haven’t blogged in forever. I’ve missed you guys so much but have still been floating around on some of your blogs 🙂 I figured I should come and give you a run down on what’s going on and new.

#1- I moved almost two months ago!
This is older news but it must be said. It’s the reason my blogging rate has declined greatly.
#2-I didn’t have any WiFi for a while
This is another thing that affected my blogging. I was 100% without WiFi for a month or so.
#3- I am not motivated to blog
Lately I have not been able to motivate myself to get on the computer and blog. I will try to blog more often ASAP
#4-LIFE
I have been so busy lately, that even if I did have motivation, I haven’t been able to post.
#5-My blog has gotten a new logo and theme!!
I made a new logo and selected a brand new theme. Let me know what you think of it and if it should stick around!
#6- Weekly memes, Book reviews and more will have new pictures/headers!!
I have been using this new site that a fellow blogger introduced me to. Because of that, posts will have more interesting and self-created pictures/headings. Be on the look out for that!!

I think that’s about it! I seriously apologize for not being more active in blogging the last couple of months. I hope you enjoy the changes I am making to my blog. If you have any suggestions, don’t hesitate to let me know! I will try to blog as much as possible and will schedule posts as much as possible.

Thanks for reading.
